It’s that time of the month where I share all the things we’ve been loving and appreciating over the last few weeks. Now, February has been a typical February – grey, wet, dark. So it’s the ideal time to focus on the positives – all the glimmers we’ve had in an otherwise very long month.
So here’s everything that has brought us even a little joy in February:
Parents’ Evening
It was Little Man’s parents evening just after I wrote the January Liked & Loved post. Parents evening for us is always a joy. Our kids are academic, are nice to be around, follow the rules and take school seriously. And, this year for Little Man was no different. The teachers love him, he gets on well with his peers and he enjoys school. It was a pleasure to hear so many people speak so highly of him. He’s a real credit to us and we couldn’t be more proud.

Getting the car fixed
Now, needing to get the car fixed is definitely not a positive. But, getting it fixed made me so happy! Last month I smushed the car on a trolley park at the supermarket – I was having a bad day and have never done anything like that before. But, thanks to a lovely local company, JS Coachworks, the car looks as good as new – and arrived back after only a couple of days away, just in time for half term!

Cosy Colouring
We were sent Igloo’s new Disney Cosy Colouring series of books ahead of their release and, as Disney fans, it couldn’t have been more exciting! The series includes five different books – Disney Princess, Disney Classics, Disney Animals, Disney Best Friends, and Disney Stitch so there is something for everyone.

The books all have bold, easy-to-colour illustrations on large format pages and with really good quality paper. Although colouring is traditionally a children’s activity, and kids will love these books, they’re also great for adults to have a little spot of mindfulness and screen free time too. I’ve loved working side by side with the kids, each colouring our favourite characters.

Scotland
The kids and I went up to Scotland for half term and, despite it being such a long drive, it was a really nice break away. We mainly went to catch up with family – and check my dad was ok after breaking his leg last month – but also had some lovely days out and a good chunk of down time too. It was nice to have such quality time with the kids although Dave sadly had to stay home and work – and look after the cats too!

We went to the Glasgow Science Centre, The Riverside Museum, The Tall Ship Glenlee, The Kelvingrove Museum and had a wander around the Dumfries Estate. We’ve already got a list of things to tick off on our next trip to Scotland and all really enjoyed the change of scenery.

Cheeky Panda
When we arrived home from Scotland we had a lovely little delivery from Cheeky Panda – toilet rolls and boxes of tissues, just what we needed as we all had colds by this point! Cheeky Panda create bamboo household essentials that are soft, strong, and don’t wreck the planet, literally leading the bamboo revolution! It’s been nice to try out their products and you can find out more here.

Cotton Traders
As is traditional at the start of the year, I’ve been focusing a lot on eating better and moving more which coincided well with Cotton Traders launching their new premium CT Active range which has been designed to celebrate all the movements we do. From walking the dog to going to an exercise class, wandering around a National Trust site or popping to brunch with your friends. The premium pieces will make you feel truly confident and fashionable, no matter what you’re doing.

The new range is so soft, easy to wear and wonderfully comfortable. It’s not tight and clingy like typical exercise clothes and instead flatters your shape, allows your body to breathe and is just a joy to wear. I’ve been loving the lightweight jersey joggers and it looks great with the mock layer t-shirt too. You can see the full CT Active range here.

New books
I always love to share a couple of books I’ve been enjoying each month. I’ve read 20 books so far this year already which I think is a record even for me! One of my favourites was The Trouble with Mrs Montgomery Hurst which you’d love if you’re a fan of Bridgerton or other period dramas. More modern than is typical for the era, this was a really lovely book, with well developed characters and a story that just kept unfolding. I loved it.

Another of my faves this month was Madame Burova, a book I’ve wanted to read ever since reading Ruth Hogan’s The Keeper of Lost Things. The story centres around Madame Burova, a seaside tarot reader and clairvoyant. It’s full of eccentric characters and, spanning two different time frames, it was lovely to see all the different strands of story come together at the end. A real joy – especially if you love Brighton!

And there you have everything we’ve been enjoying this month. The month seems to have flown by compared to January and I am most definitely ready for March and all the spring loveliness that comes with it. I hope you’ve had a lovely February too.
