Back to School {The Ordinary Moments}
And just like that we are back into school runs, uniform, books bags and routines. But, this year is not quite the same as any other year. This year Little Man started school too.
Both LP and Little Man are now at school for six hours a day and it’s a time that I’ve been working towards for the last few years, waiting for this time when I can get a proper work/life balance in place. But, even though I have been counting down the months it was still hard to wave Little Man off on his first day.
Our preschool days are behind us now and seeing Little Man in his uniform, all smart and grown, really cemented that for me. He is so, so ready for school but the first day of school will always be emotional. I miss having him to eat lunch with and to snuggle up with watching a movie in the afternoons. But I know he doesn’t miss me – he has a lovely lunch at school and gets to play with his friends – what more could a boy want?!
LP and Little Man were only at school for three days and finished the week exhausted. They were so, so ready for that weekend and we were all very much looking forward to a rest on Saturday morning, no school run, no uniform and a slower pace. I have a feeling our weekends will often be like that going forward.
The summer already feels a distant memory and we are all looking forward to October half term and Christmas after that. But, I’m also looking forward to getting stuck into the school term, getting used to the early mornings again and just finding our stride. It’s always hard getting back into the swing of the school routine after the summer but I know in a couple of weeks it’ll feel like we’ve never been away!
If you have an ordinary moment this week, come and link up – I’m looking forward to reading the moments that you share and will comment and share them on Twitter through the course of the week. Thanks so much for taking part!

I think a lot of posts will be similar this week – can you believe it is back to school already. After 4 days of the school run I already have forgotten the slower days of the summer. Beautiful picture of your two xx
They look so smart and happy in their uniforms. It is bittersweet isn’t it? Glad it’s going well & good luck with the routine xx
They look so smart in their new crisp uniforms … I was so ready for this weekend too haha so weird after not even a full week haha x #ordinarymoments
Oh look at them, so sweet together. Alice can’t wait for Holly to start, it’s all she has talked about this last week. Our Saturday mornings are going to the same x
Ah Donna they look so sweet together! We were too ready for a lazy weekend after the craziness of school returned, I always forget how much it takes out of her, and me!
I CANNOT believe that Troy and Max have started school! How has Troy settled in?
He is loving it! He came home today with a pocket full of acorns! x
