Baby Photos {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

It’s funny how things become part of your routine so easily. For such a long time the children have come into our room in the morning, having cuddles in bed for ten minutes before getting up. During this time I started to introduce them to a habit of mine – looking at Timehop each morning to see what we were doing last year, the year before or even years back before the children were born.

Now the children don’t often get up in time for bed cuddles, instead needing me to go and wake them up for school. But, the children still insist on looking back at years gone by and so we’ve shuffled out routine to fit it in before school.

We now get to school and before they go in one – or both – will shout ‘baby pictures!’ and it will be time to gather around my phone and see what we were all doing on this date a year or so ago.

The children love looking at pictures of them from the past – LP as a baby, as a two year old, as a preschooler. Little Man as a baby, growing bigger alongside his sister and, at some point, ending up the same size as her. They love talking about the things we did, the places we went, the clothes they wore and I love how excited they get seeing themselves as babies.

LP and Little Man always look at their photos and say how cute they are and it makes me think that in years to come they’ll be looking at the photos I take today, tomorrow or next week and will be seeing the things we did, the adventures we went on, the friends we saw. They’ll be able to remember all of these things through these photos I take and it reminds me why I started blogging and sharing our lives on social media.

I started all of this so that we could remember all those things. The dungarees Little Man used to wear, the clips LP used to need in her hair before it got long enough to tie back, the nights we spent awake all night with teething or poorly babies, the time LP broke her leg, the weaning mess, the car journeys and the days spent in our pyjamas. I don’t want us to just remember the big bits but all those little bits in between and having LP and Little Man insist on seeing these photos makes us all remember it a little bit more.

The Ordinary Moments

If you have an ordinary moment this week, come and link up – I’m looking forward to reading the moments that you share and will comment and share them on Twitter through the course of the week. Thanks so much for taking part!

  3. Oh your babies were SO gorgeous! I think one of the best things about blogging is that I’ve taken more photos. It definitely helps to build the memories. That’s so lovely that they love looking at them too.
