How to make Apple and Cinnamon Flapjacks?

Cinnamon Apple Flapjacks use just the same ingredients as plain flapjacks – rolled oats, golden syrup, sugar and butter but with added apple and cinnamon to give that classic cinnamon apple flavour.

For this recipe we use dried apple as it adds a nice texture to the bake and stands up to the hot temperature in the oven without going mushy. However, if you prefer you can try using fresh apples although I would be inclined to grate them and add into the flapjack mixture rather than chopping into cubes in case they go mushy. This would give you lovely cinnamon and grated apple flapjacks which I’m sure would turn out really well.

We also use light brown sugar for this apple and cinnamon flapjack recipe but I know traditionally any sugar can be used – and granulated sugar or golden caster sugar work really well too. I just love the flavour that soft light brown sugar gives.

Although we tend to eat these flapjacks really quickly in our house, they do keep well for a few days in an airtight container and would make a great choice for a bake sale, buffet spread or lunchbox treat.
