Playing Together {The Ordinary Moments}
One thing I always looked forward to when expecting our second baby was a time in the future when our children would be able to play together, share toys and have a ready made friend to keep them company.
Now, about two and a half years since we found out we were expecting another child, we have reached that point in the future. LP and Little Man share their toys. Most of LP’s toys are suitable for Little Man with a bit of supervision and they will often sit together, playing with the same thing, making something together or acting something out.
Our afternoons often feature the TV at some point but around this time LP and Little Man will sit at their table, sit on the sofa or sit on the rug playing together. It’s one of my favourite things to see and something that, having looked forward to it for so long, I appreciate so much.
LP didn’t know how to share when Little Man arrived in her life. She didn’t know how to play regularly with someone else, how to let them play with her toys or how to play nicely with their toys, how to swap toys and play fair. Since Little Man came along LP has learnt all of that and more. She is more patient, she treats toys better and she looks after things. She loves having her brother to play with, loves sharing with him and really just loves having him there. I’m sure the feeling is mutual.
Aww, this is so lovely. I’m going to focus on this through the next two years of sleepless nights and remember that one day it’ll get easier and I’ll have two kids who can entertain each other!
Exactly! It does get easier, I promise. I often had moment, through pregnancy and the first 6-12 months, where I thought ‘what have I done?!’ and felt a bit mental but now it’s so lovely, it’s worth the lack of sleep and everything else that comes with it just to get to this point x
This is such a lovely post and picture. I am so looking forward to the day my two boys play together like this <3 x
Awwww Donna this makes me so happy and excited to read!!!
They look so happy playing together bless them, they are so cute! Xx
I love watching my two play together, it is so special. It’s great to have a playmate around so much, and a lovely stage when they do share nicely x
It really is lovely to watch siblings playing together isn’t it? I always think what they will be like when they are adults and hope that they remain close.
Lovely photo of the two of them Donna! I too most looked forward to this when I first had Archie, x
This is so lovely. It was a big decision for us to have another baby but I love that Ethan has a sibling, more than I ever thought I would. I hope that my two will play well together like your children do x
