The Showcase of Citrus Orlando
When we go to Florida we like to do things that are a little bit different to break up our time at the theme parks. On our last visit we went to Showcase of Citrus – and loved it!
What is Showcase of Citrus?
Showcase of Citrus is a family owned and operated 2,500 acre estate where they grow over fifty different varieties of citrus. It’s a free to visit attraction that offers a variety of experiences – and you just pay for the experiences that you book and take part in.
We booked to visit Showcase of Citrus for their Monster Truck Adventure experience and were also looking forward to exploring the site, meeting the animals and pottering around the shops.
The Showcase of Citrus Monster Truck Adventure
We booked one of the Monster Truck Adventures through Groupon which was great value and we just had to book a time direct with Showcase of Citrus that was super easy to do. There’s plenty of free on-site parking and with monster trucks lining the side of the main road, Showcase of Citrus is easy to find and hard to miss!
We arrived half an hour before our experience to get booked in, explore and buy animal feed to dish out during our trip. The staff were lovely and one of the first things we noticed was the farm animals and eclectic mix of things to look at throughout the site. It’s like stepping back in time!
The Monster Truck Adventure sees you climb up some stairs to board the monster truck. The trucks were so much bigger than I was expecting and we were all excited to get going. We were given a little safety briefing – mainly to stay sitting and hold on – and then we were off!
The tour takes just under an hour and takes you on a journey around the Showcase of Citrus site, past so many citrus trees and across fields. After about twenty minutes we started to see animals, with deer, emus and buffalo coming to the truck to say hello and get some treats.
The animal feed cost from $4 and really adds to the experience, especially when we were able to feed animals like zebras that we’ve only seen from a distance before. I think we paid about $10 for our bucket of feed.
The Monster Truck Adventure was a great experience and we were glad we went at the start of the day before it gets too hot. Make sure you take sun protection, sun hats, sunglasses and water with you – it’s a hot but exciting ride!
The Showcase of Citrus animals
When we got back off the monster truck we were greeted by the friendly farm animals. These are free to visit and talk to as part of the Showcase of Citrus attraction and there are chickens, goats, pigs, miniature horses, donkeys, camels, and so many other friendly creatures. It’s a lovely place to spend time and we were sad to drag the kids away!
There are also opportunities to pick your own citrus with the U-pick citrus experiences if you visit between November and May, and gem mining which is super fun if your children love to get stuck in and mine for treasure!
Showcase of Citrus also has a bar selling a wide variety of refreshments, plenty of seating and even a children’s play area, making it such a lovely place to spend time.
Much to Little Man’s delight, there were even a few friendly cats who he made friends with whilst we were looking around the Old Time Country Store. We bought out obligatory magnet and also some bacon jam – amazing stuff!
We loved our morning at Showcase of Citrus. I gave us a chance to get back to nature, do something different and enjoy the fresh air and some quality time together as a family.
We’ll definitely be visiting again on our next trip even if it’s just to see the animals, grab a drink, say hi to the cats and stock up on bacon jam.
You can find out more about Showcase of Citrus and book Showcase of Citrus tickets over on their website and for reference the address is: 15051 Frank Jarrell Rd, Clermont, Florida. We also visited Citrus Tower and the Orlando Cat Cafe on the same day.
