The weather this year is so strange isn’t it? We haven’t had very much sun at all, and most days have been cold and grey. It’s already getting towards the end of June and I don’t really feel like summer is here yet – or even around the corner! So how do you dress for a summer that just doesn’t want to get going?

Part of me is just focused on our summer holiday, escaping abroad to get some real sunshine! But, I haven’t given up on the UK just yet. But this year I’ve been investing in leggings and jeggings – hardly cracking the shorts out at all. Cotton Traders thankfully have super comfortable crop jeggings that are great for the changeable weather at this time of year.

Really durable, and with plenty of pockets, they pull on, ready to be a main part of any outfit. I pair jeggings with vest tops, tank tops and t-shirts, whatever I fancy at the time. These are practical and comfortable, with the added benefit of being able to add extra layers when it’s colder or into the evening.

I love wearing cardigans and hoodies but, in the summer I at least try and wear lighter clothes and make the layers suit the season. Shirts are great for this and I love this longline cotton shirt. It’s so easy to wear and can be thrown on over pretty much any outfit to add some warmth or protection from the sun.

An outfit like this can be worn for pretty much any occasion. A day out, a day in the garden or a barbecue. Comfortable, practical and versatile – there’s not much else you need in your wardrobe.

I’m now all set for the summer and I hope that the sun comes out at least occasionally – and I can throw the shirt off and feel the sun on my arms. What a treat that would be!

  1. Cotton traders are fab! I love wearing cotton clothes, but they can be difficult to find in a world obsessed with polyester. Cotton traders clothing looks and feels great.
