Movies in the Car {The Ordinary Moments}
Over the next couple of months we have quite a few long journeys planned and because of this we recently decided to invest in a set portable DVD players for in the car. We did a lot of research before buying them and in the end we decided on having two screens, one for each of the children, but then having the same movie playing on each screen. We thought it would save arguments, help LP and Little Man take things in turns and to share.
We have now have a couple of journeys that have been long enough to warrant the DVD players – an hour or longer – and the children have loved this new addition to car journeys.The moment they first had a movie on in the car their faces were a picture – so happy, excited and baffled all at the same time. Mickey Mouse? IN THE CAR?!
LP just loves watching her little screen in the back of the car but Little Man still hasn’t got used to it, alternating between watching his own screen and looking at his sister’s, convinced that she’s watching something different to what he’s watching.
Whilst we’re driving we make it so we can still listen to the car radio without listening to their movie and vice versa but it’s great to hear them giggling at the same parts and doing all the ooohs and ahhhhs like they do watching TV at home.
In car entertainment has definitely made long car journeys more exciting for the kids. I now just can’t wait to go on more adventures to give us an excuse to use the DVD players again!
We bought ours when we were going to drive through France on holiday. We only really use it for big journeys so it’s a special treat, but it really is the best investment and makes long journeys so much easier. We used the screen for the first time this last weekend driving to Wales for Aria, although the she’s little she often gets very upset in the car. It was brilliant she was so much calmer 🙂
