Little Man is 4 Months Old

Where have these last months gone?

Today I find myself the Mummy of a 4 month old. He is a third of a year and 2 thirds of the way to an exciting new chapter in his life – weaning.

We’ll be doing baby led weaning again without a doubt. I cannot imagine faffing around with purees and mush when we don’t need to. The BLW route with LP was so easy, a smooth transition from finger food to eating bits of our dinner to eating a smaller portion of our dinner with cutlery. I will never understand ‘traditional’ weaning. Blw was definitely the right path for us and I’m looking forward to doing it all again!

Little Man is coming on so fast – he rolls onto his sides often, likes to be in a sitting position and holds his head up amazingly well. He has a really strong grip and rather than sucking his thumb he likes to suck his fingers – all at once.

Little Man has found his voice over the last few weeks and chats constantly in baby babble, throaty noises and a lot of clicks and coos. It’s lovely to hear him chatter to himself and respond to us. He’s also just found his laugh and it’s lovely to watch it take over his whole face as well as the perfect chuckle he makes.

It’s hard to imagine that in 2 short months LM will be trying solid food and will be moving into his own room at night – a step that although I’ll be glad of I will be incredibly sad too. This will be the last time I have a baby sleeping in our room. But it will be lovely to not wake each other up so much and we may all sleep better. Having said that, Little Man sleeps so much better than LP slept at his age. He tends to still wake 3 hourly at night but goes straight back to sleep after a feed – his Sister needed a lot more help to go to sleep at night. Having said that, the last few nights he has been waking hourly – apparently it’s a 4 month sleep regression and I will be glad when it’s over!

Little Man is turning into such a perfect little person. He makes us smile constantly and really does complete our little family. LP loves him immensely, waves hello to him first thing in the morning and still calls him ‘Baby’. It’s amazing to watch her bond with him grow and it will be equally great to see his bond with her develop as he gets bigger.

  1. He’s such a wee dote! 4 months already…crazy! I love your new blog banner by the way, just gorgeous 🙂

  2. Jobey has just hit the 6 month sleep regression, it’s bad! And I think he is now so dependant on my boob to go back to sleep that we will have problems from now on which is annoying as he only woke once or twice a night up until a few weeks ago! Think I am going to BLW too, he isn’t interested in purées but does want to grab whatever I am eating! Love your new header x

  3. He is the cutest little guy! Gosh they are not long growing up huh! I am still baffled how my baby is 31wks! Feels like she was only born yesterday – literally! BLW is the greatest isn’t it! We are LOVING the weaning stages with Miss Belle.

Thanks so much for linking up to #MMWBH xx
