It will come as no surprise to regular readers that LP and Little Man love books and nothing excites them more than getting a new book through the post. So when The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats by Henrietta Mackenzie arrived they wanted to read it straight away!

The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats

The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats is a beautiful book aimed at young children, about the adventures of two cats and the two distinct lives they lead.

During the day, Milly and Tilly act like toys on their owner, baby Penny’s, play mat. But, at night they go on adventures before sneaking back in again as if nothing had ever happened!

The book is written in rhyming couplets and a sing song style that is easy for children to follow, has a great rhythm and is fun and engaging throughout.

The story of the Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats covers a few days of indoor play and outside adventures – in the snow! It’s an exciting story and offers a real tale of friendship in the form of not only Penny but also an unlikely saviour, the dog next door, who helps the cats make their way home when stuck in the snow.

The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats

The Two Googly-Eyed Cat characters are lovely and ones you immediately warm to. I can imagine The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats being the first installment in a series and one that could see the cats going on so many adventures to different places, in different seasons and with different companions too.

The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats would be a great book for any age child. LP and Little Man love reading it by themselves but younger children would love it as a bedtime story, being read to them by a caregiver or older sibling.

It would also be a great book for children to work through when learning to read independently as it’s not too long and uses simple but engaging language.

LP and Little Man really like The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats. It’s different from other books they’ve read and they loved the idea of our own cat going on all sorts of adventures unbeknown to them, whilst they slept at night.

The Secret Lives of Two Googly-Eyed Cats is available in paperback, hardback and as an eBook from £3.49. You can find out more and order a copy here.

The author, Henrietta Mackenzie, is planning on giving half the proceeds of the book to Great Ormond Street Hospital who have been treating her daughter.
