Car Sleeping {The Ordinary Moments}

LP stopped napping when Little Man was born, at the grand age of 20 months old. She still needed to sleep but refused to and it has made for some exhausting afternoons over the last year but we have now got used to her routine – she’ll usually relax on the sofa in the afternoon to conserve some of her energy.

Starting preschool though has given LP something new to use up her energy and most days she ends up exhausted. Her nursery hours increased this week too and I can only see her getting more tired as the days go by and I am hoping that we’ll be able to introduce napping again at some point but until then we are still ploughing through with no naps and long days. That is, until we go out in the car.

Car Sleeping {The Ordinary Moments}

If LP has been to preschool in the morning and we go out in the car she is guaranteed to fall asleep. There’s no way that she can resist that rhythmic movement and gentle hum of the car in motion. We don’t get to see her sleep often, and she had only ever slept in the car when exhausted but now she will sleep near enough every time we’re in the car after a day out.

Little Man, on the other hand. Will sleep in the car without fail. His gorgeous little snoozy face is something I see often in the rear view mirror and I still love to time journeys with his nap time. Sleeping car babies are something I will never tire of seeing.

  1. My little girl stopped napping over the summer, and yes it does make for some long days 🙂 She will also nod off in the car though, and sometimes the buggy too. She seems to have fallen into a pattern of napping every four days?! I do love seeing the snoozing faces in the car, so peaceful and adorable x #TheOrdinaryMoments

  2. Car naps are so cute……& they look a little like a ‘nodding dog’ When you stop start, & i can help but 1) feel slightly mean but 2) laugh my clogs off. Bear will only sleep for 30 mins on the button when we’re in the car! & I’m not ready to give up nap time just yet! 🙂
