Bonus Days {The Ordinary Moments}
Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.
I love school holidays and weekends with the children. It’s pretty much what I live for. But, one of my favourite things is when I get a bonus day with the children, an unexpected day together. I remember the first time this happened, when the children’s school was closed because of a power cut. It was one of the simplest but loveliest days.
On Friday we had an inset day. One that we only realised was happening a couple of days before and initially it felt like both such a treat and a huge inconvenience. I had so much work to do and expected to have until school pick up on Friday to do it. But then I realised, actually, we could all do with a PJ day at home and I could do my work around the children – and they could probably help with it too.
So that’s pretty much what we did. We stayed in our PJs all day. I cooked a recipe for work and baked another with LP’s help, she dressed up as a witch, Little Man made so many creations and we spent the afternoon in front of the TV. It was bliss.
I spent the day feeling like it was Saturday, a lovely extra Saturday. It was so nice to have low key day with the children and I really appreciate how understanding they are about my job, knowing that I sometimes have to work around them, sort emails whilst I watch a movie with them or take photos whilst they’re playing. It’s just part of life for them now.
If you have an ordinary moment this week, come and link up – I’m looking forward to reading the moments that you share and will comment and share them on Twitter through the course of the week. Thanks so much for taking part.
Those days are the best. They are the ones we, as parents, seem to appreciate most xx
Happy half-term Donna – I hope you have the most fabulous time. Sadly ours is over now and come tomorrow we are back to routine. Ho hum, we’ve had a lovely time!
Sounds like you had a lovely day together whilst still being productive
