Birthday Celebrations {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

On Friday our Little Man turned six and it’s a day we’d been working around to for months. He was so excited for his big day and talked about it constantly, planning his party, what he’d like for his birthday and even what he’d have for his birthday dinner.

When the big day came he ended up waking up at 6am, something he doesn’t even do at Christmas, and sang ‘Happy Birthday to Me’ as he rushed into our room for morning cuddles. The morning was full of gifts and getting ready for school with the promise of more birthday fun at the end of the day.

The evening was spent opening more gifts and, at Little Man’s request, having cook at home Pizza Express pizzas and dough balls whilst watching a movie. It was perfect for him.

On Saturday we’d booked a party at the Look Out, a local discovery centre that he had visited previously for parties. It was a morning full of playing and everything was educational with lots of hands on science fun. The party was well managed and we had nothing to organise apart from party bags and the cake. It couldn’t have gone better.

After the party our closest friends and family came back to our house for a barbecue and we had a really nice afternoon where the children played, we ate and drank and we celebrated our favourite boy getting another year older.

And now he is six and it really has passed so quickly. His birthday was everything he hoped for and we have a family day out tomorrow that I think will be the icing on the cake. I am sure within the next couple of days he’ll start talking about his next birthday but for now we’re holding on to this one. Six already, the years really have passed in the blink of an eye.
