Many families prefer spending their vacations unwinding from their busy lives, while others prefer an active adventure. Packing a few good reads, required essentials, filling up your periods delay medicine, and booking a cabin for a few days on a tropical island beach somewhere is an excellent way to unwind and relax without doing many activities. But if you wish to do more than just relax, consider adding an educational twist to the trip for enhancing your children’s experience.

Try to foster curiosity about different places, people, cultures, languages, and history. This way, your kids can learn a thing or two they may not have learned in school otherwise. Following are some of the destinations that can allow you to have an adventurous trip while also increasing your own and your kid’s knowledge.

1. Costa Rica

There are beautiful, white-washed beaches, green islands, and plenty of fun adventures to be had in Costa Rica. You can go on a snorkelling exploration, ride a zip line, or spend some time travelling around on a boat or a yacht. In addition, there is plenty of wildlife in this amazing Central American country, which will call to the animal-loving kids. All in all, you can have a lot of fun while learning a lot about your destination, its history, and its vibrant culture.

2. Rome

Rome is one of the most educational and fun places to visit for families. There are many things to see, museums to visit, ancient architecture to marvel over, giggle over semi-naked statues, and have a lot of fun. You can tell the kids thrilling tales of gladiators and epic battles of the past and tell them stories of roman culture. You can also visit Pompeii and learn its history and downfall in a volcanic eruption if you have the opportunity. There is also plenty of good food to eat and activities to enjoy.

3. Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia

The colonial era is a significant part of American history, and there is no better way to learn about it than having a stroll through Colonial Williamsburg. You can let the kid roam around freely as they discover many entertaining things to do, like watching live museums, performances, and civil war depictions. It may seem that London is more enjoyable for adults, but there are plenty of fun things to do for kids here. You can take your family to see special shows on London’s West End, like The Lion King or Wicked. Kids and families also appreciate visiting the Tower of London, Churchill War Rooms, and Shakespeare’s Theatre. You can also have an adventure riding the enormous Ferris wheel, called the London Eye, on the southern bank of Thames and have an amazing view of the metropolis. Kids will especially like to visit Harry Potter studios and Sea Life London Aquarium. Madame Tussaud’s is also pretty fascinating.

6. Bergen, Norway

Bergen is a charming little harbour town in Norway that still retains its cultural roots in Norwegian history. You can bring your family and allow the kids to explore the beautifully coloured waterfront. The maritime museum has an impressive collection of ships, boats, and other seafaring memorabilia, especially from the Vikings era. You can have a lot of fun exploring the beauty of the surrounding lakes, mountains, and fjords. You can have a lot of fun with the kids telling entertaining stories about the Vikings and Norse Gods.

7. Sedona, Arizona

Sedona boasts some of the most fantastic rock formations and geographical beauty in the world. It was once regarded as a sacred place by the Native American Tribes. You cannot get enough of the natural beauty in this wonderful place. There is plenty for kids to discover and run around having fun in Sedona. You can hike, ride a bike, tour around on a Jeep, and explore nature. Get a closer look at some of the most iconic rock formations, as well as the local wildlife. 8. Athens, Greece

Greeks have left a significant mark on the World’s history, and you can rarely feel its impact more keenly than in Athens. There’s so much to experience, see, learn, and discover that it’s hard to confine all the activities in a single book, let alone a paragraph. There are old ruins, monuments, museums, and temples to visit in Athens. Alaska is an excellent destination for families wishing to experience the great outdoors. You can make some fantastic memories traversing through the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park & Preserve and learn a lot about flora and fauna. There are some opportunities to experience skiing, fishing, hiking, and wildlife watching that you can learn a lot from. In addition, this land is steeped in Native Alaskan history, which can be another learning experience.
