It’s that time of the month again where I share all the things we’ve liked and loved over the last few weeks. I really like pulling these posts together, looking at the things we’ve done, experienced or simply enjoyed. It definitely helps keep me focused on the good things in life!

So here’s everything we’ve loved in July:

A weekend in Cheltenham

I kicked off the month with a weekend in Cheltenham. It was lovely to get away and relax, explore somewhere new and have quality time with a good friend. It came at just the right time too as this time of year is so hectic for parents (and teachers) that was lovely for Sarah and I to have a break from it all before the last few weeks of term.

New books

LP and Little Man were sent the first three books in the Wings of Fire series from Scholastic. It’s a series they were already familiar with – as LP has borrowed the books from the school library before – but she was so excited to have her very own copies now too.

The Wings of Fire series by Tui T. Sutherland is an epic dragon fantasy series that fans of How to Train Your Dragon will love – it’s one of the reasons LP first picked it up! Plus, it’s soon going to be an animated series on Amazon Prime Video – and we cannot wait for that to launch! You can see all the books in the series here.

We were also sent some fantastic new books from Nosy Crow. The new books in the Press Start and Wigglesbottom Primary series are ones that we have been looking forward to. Press Start are brightly coloured graphic novel style books that Little Man loves to immerse himself in and Wigglesbottom Primary is a fantastic series from Pamela Butchart – the creator of the Baby Alien books that LP and Little Man have loved for years. They are so funny and engaging!

We were also sent Supa Nova, the first instalment in a brand new, bright and bold full colour graphic novel series. Nova is a scientist and a genius – so her nickname is Supa Nova, like a huge star, exploding with her adventures! This book is all about how Nova invents a plastic-eating monster – and the repercussions of inventing something like that! Little Man can’t wait for the next Supa Nova book.

Kellogg’s

We were also sent a lovely delivery from Kellogg’s this month. Following its success last summer, Kellogg’s Football Camps are coming back for 2025 and we were sent a bundle of goodies to celebrate. In partnership with the EFL, Manchester City, Celtic and Rangers, the Football Camps offer kids across the country the chance to stay active, learn football skills, and have fun throughout summer – and they’re free with a unique code from Kellogg’s cereal boxes. Find out more here.

Marwell Zoo Extinction

We spent a really lovely evening at Marwell Zoo experiencing their new Extinction trail. The trail was fantastic – featuring over 30 different models built from toy bricks, showcasing all sorts of extinct creatures. We all really enjoyed it.

Hair Cuts

LP, Little Man and I have all had end of term hair cuts, ready for the summer holidays and our trip abroad in a couple of weeks. It’s always such a treat to have your hair cut and LP’s hair is now shorter than it’s been in a long time.

End of the school year

We were all so ready for the end of the school year and yet can’t quite believe that Year 7 and Year 9 are over for Little Man and LP. This year has whizzed by and I can safely say that all the nerves about Little Man starting secondary were unfounded, he took to it like a duck to water and has grown up so much too. I could not be more proud of them both.

MJ the Musical

We spent a day in London to kick off the school holidays and our first stop was seeing MJ the Musical. Such a great show, set in the run up to Michael Jackson’s Dangerous tour, it is full of familiar songs, incredible choreography and special effects. We loved it! You can read our review here.

101 Dalmatians

Our next stop was to see 101 Dalmatians in Hammersmith. With a real panto feel to it, the show was fun, full of special effects and with Dalmatians that were so true to life that you forgot they were puppets. It was such a good, upbeat show. You can read our review of the show here.

Vitabiotics

We were sent a bundle of supplements from Vitabiotics to get the whole family set for the summer and the new academic year. They have a new range of Wellteen Multivitamin Gummies, with varieties for girls and boys, making sure they always have all the nutrients they need alongside a balanced diet.

Krafted Connex

As a family, we love a new gadget and so couldn’t wait to try out the Connex when it arrived through the post. Connex is a all-in-one connectivity solution designed to simplify the lives of anyone who juggles multiple devices. This definitely sounds familiar to us as the kids often have two or three devices plugged in at a time!

Eliminating the need for multiple cables and chargers, Connex is pocket-sized and travel friendly, keeping us connected on the go. It features up to 8 charging and data transfer combinations, making charging devices so much easier as you always have a charger ready to go.

We’re so impressed with the Connex and can’t wait to take it on holiday with us. Little Man especially loves that he can put it in his bag and always have it with him. You can find out more about Krafted Connex here.

And that’s our July. We’ve done lots of fun things, been sent lovely things and have enjoyed quite a lot of quality time together. And now it’s the summer holidays! Six weeks with my favourite people. I hope you have a lovely summer ahead too.
