Blogger Behind the Blog {Glutarama}
Here’s this week’s instalment of Blogger Behind the Blog where I interview a blogger all about their reasons for blogging and what it means to them. This week I’m joined by Rebecca from Glutarama.
Here’s Rebecca with more about her blogging life:
Where did your blog name come from?
It was a joint effort with my sister, we sat at the dining table and mulled over names with a cup of tea! I knew what I wanted, just not how to say it, we’re all about gluten free and there’s never a dull moment so plenty of drama, and so Glutarama was born!
When did you start your blog and why?
I actually started an earlier blog over on Blogger, it wasn’t meant to be something people read, it was my little space for therapy. When people actually started to read my musings, a little light turned on…the rest is history!
What did you do before you blogged?
I was a careers adviser for 15yrs working with teenagers, then following Local Government cuts I became an Employment Officer for the borough creating jobs, apprenticeships and organising huge events, all very interesting stuff!
What was your first post?
That was a personal one about my family and how the children’s diagnosis’ effected everyone, that post no longer exists but is part of my ‘About Us‘ section on my website.
What inspires you to blog?
Free From Food – Adventures – Drama’s
What post has had the best response, which post are you most proud of and which post did you enjoy writing the most?
To date I think my most popular post has been a recent recipe for dairy free, gluten free Double Deckers!
The post I’m most proud of is my open letter to the head of education at our local council, I don’t expect it to go viral, far from it but it was my way for saying thank you to a wonderful lady who helped my son, she was so taken with the gesture.
The post I’ve most enjoy writing, hmmm, that’s difficult. I enjoy writing end of…I’m enjoying writing this!
Have any of your posts not had the response that you expected?
Haha, I never have any expectations about my posts, saying that, I’m sitting on a recipe (it”s awesome) and I’m trying to pitch to companies to get a sponsor, I think it will be HUGE but as and when it goes live it’ll probably flop haha!
Where do you see your blog in a year’s time?
Bigger. Better. More posts!
What is your favourite thing about blogging?
I’ve kind of said this already but writing is the first thing but that has led to the most amazing friendships anyone could ask for, I literally love my blogger friends and my faithful followers too, I’m always me, never someone else and I love that they like me for what I am, true friendship.
…and your least favourite?
Not having enough time to blog and the admin/website maintenance, so, so time consuming!
What’s the best blog post you have ever read?
Gosh, that’s difficult, I’ve read lots of posts that have made me smile, laugh, cry or inspired me. [see below for my go to bloggers]
What blog do you love to read and why?
Le Coin de Mel – Mel makes me laugh
Free From Farmhouse – Emma has awesome recipes
The Free From Fairy – Vicki is an inspiration
Someone’s Mum – Danielle understands me
Do you do anything differently now to when you started blogging?
I view the world differently, I already thought other peoples lives were sugar coated and no one knew what happened behind closed doors, now I KNOW, everyone struggles, no one’ perfect and we all need to get along better.
Is blogging what you expected it to be?
I never expected to make the friends I have, I thought it would be a very solitary world where I could hide but this adventure has even had me indoor skydiving – I’M AFRAID OF HEIGHTS!!!
What’s been your favourite blog collaboration to date?
I’m only just venturing into the world of paid work but I love working with like minded bloggers on linkies and there is a gang of free from bloggers that I’m proud to be part of who work of themes each month check out the following hashtags; #freefrompicnics #freefrompancakes #freefromBBQs
Are there any brands you would love to work with, why?
There’s no particular brand, I love to work with littler brands and see them grow with me, better, more meaningful relationships are formed with the smaller brands.
Have you had any blogging fails so far?
Not yet, there’s still time!
What is your biggest blogging hope, dream or ambition?
To develop a company working directly with free from brands and distributing the paid work fairly among free from bloggers [oh, wait a minute…..WATCH THIS SPACE!]
What do you do when you’re not blogging?
That’s easy, running around after my two gorgeous but individually demanding child whom I gave up my career for.
and lastly, tell us all a random fact about yourself
I don’t like mushrooms but wish I did!
Now that you know all about Rebecca from Glutarama make sure you go and read her blog. You can follow her on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – thanks so much Rebecca for being involved!
Haha, loved reading this back. Thanks again for the chance to do this it was great fun. I’d like to add another friendship I’ve built on since writing this post….Renee from Mummy Tries….she REALLY gets me xxx
Rebecca, how on earth can you not like mushrooms? I’m not sure we can be friends anymore!
I’m so glad I make you laugh, and you certainly make me laugh too. A lot!
You were so good at that skydiving thing: no one would have thought you were scared of heights! xxx
