I’ve been Blogging for 2 years!
Today I have been blogging for two years. Something that started one day, a couple of months into weaning LP as something to pass the time, ramble and document our family life and LP’s weaning journey has now evolved into a big part of my life, a platform to write, a journal of our children’s births, baby days and childhoods and a hobby that I have always needed and wanted – Something that’s mine, that I enjoy and that I can spend time doing.
Before blogging I used to spend my evenings on the internet, randomly surfing the net, spending hours window shopping online and wasting time really, procrastinating, not doing anything useful at all. I started blogging and it ate into some of that time although I didn’t blog regularly at all – Once or twice a month at most. I continued all the way through until Little Man was a couple of months old.
In July 2013 I was invited to a Kiddicare store opening, as a blogger. This made me reevaluate blogging, what I wanted from it and how I saw the future of my blog. I decided on the spur of the moment one morning that I would go self hosted and make my own space online, my very own blog on my very own website. Redhead Babyled was born.
Since then I’ve tweaked the blog constantly, teaching myself code, changing fonts, layouts and colours. I think I am finally happy with the blog the way it is until I have a big rebrand in a year or two.
I decided from the outset that I would blog a few times a week but within a couple of months I was blogging daily. Now I’m at the point where I have two posts most days. I join in with linkys – The Ordinary Moments, Living Arrows, Dear Beautiful’s Family Portrait Projects, Tried and Tested and Caption Saturday as well as others I join in when I can. On top of that I make sure I do regular updates on Little Man and LP’s milestones and write about anything that is happening in our lives. The bones of this blog will always be about our family and our lives together.
I am also immensely proud that I have managed to host a Baby Led Weaning series with posts from so many of my Twitter followers and blogging friends. I really appreciate them wanting to be a part of something that means so much to me – Weaning will always be part of the reason I started blogging and the reason this blog is ‘Babyled’. The series is now in it’s fourth month and will continue into May at least – As long as there are people wanting to guest post for the series I will continue to host it.
I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing brands over the last few months, I’ve run some great competitions and I have been invited to some great events. I’ll be going to Britmums Live for the first time this year thanks to sponsorship and am looking forward to meeting in real life some of the people that I have become so close to from the online blogging community.
2 years in and I love blogging. It has opened my world, given me a much needed hobby and forced me to use my previously wasted hours constructively. I have met, and continue to meet, some fantastic people through blogging and I am really proud of my little space on the huge world wide web.
Happy blogging Birthday to me – Redhead Babyled isn’t quite a year old so I’ll be celebrating that later in the year!
