Are you looking for a fantastic, free family event this weekend? Well, Wembley Park has the answer. On Saturday 16th July 2022, the International Busking Day festival is returning to Wembley Park – and it’s set to be a wonderful day out.
What is International Busking Day?
Created by Busk In London, International Busking Day is London’s largest celebration of street performers and artists. Featuring nine stages and one hundred artists in one pretty amazing, free festival. With so many different stages and performers to suit all tastes, it’s an occasion that all ages will love.
We absolutely love Wembley Park. It’s always a great day out and there’s so much to keep the whole family entertained. I can’t think of a better place to host a festival of this scale. International Busking Day is all about the hottest home-grown talent and world class street performers. It’s somewhere that you’re sure to discover some favourite new acts and maybe even see some family favourites too.
The festival is packed full of so many fun musical acts that the whole family will love. The Shires are headlining and there are some amazing support acts too – Seth Lakeman and The Dunwells. Plus, as well as the big name performers, there are also acts from around the globe and some incredibly local talent that was sourced through the Wembley Park Academy too.
Keeping kids entertained at International Busking Day
You don’t need to worry that your children won’t be entertained. As well as the fantastic live music, there’s also a dedicated Kids’ Zone on Arena Square. There’ll be face painting, balloon artists and even Circus Skills workshops with Tish Circus Skills where the whole family can get involved, learning basic circus skills like spinning plates, stilt walking, pogo sticks, tightrope walking and juggling!
But that’s not all, there’s also a Circle Stage on Olympic Way with magic acts, comedy shows, extreme jugglers and Tianna & Lea, an incredible stunt sister duo. The Little Stars Circus will also be performing for most of the day and the aerial dance company features professionals and children as young as four showing off their stunts. This is one not to be missed!
You can also take in The Bridge, a family-friendly participatory block party at the Undercroft. This full day workshop involves dancing, DJs, art and graffiti writers plus an opportunity to see dance offs and murals coming to life. There’ll be so many opportunities for attendees of all ages to get involved.
As well as the festival you can make the most of the rest of the facilities that Wembley Park has to offer including two all weather play areas that the children will love. Our two always enjoy time in the playgrounds when we visit Wembley Park. They’re the perfect places for them to let off steam whilst we enjoy a little pit stop too.
Eating at International Busking Day
Once you’ve watched some acts, want to see more of Wembley Park and feel like grabbing a bite to eat or a drink in the sun, there are plenty of options to choose from. Wembley Park has over sixty different places to eat including BOXPARK Wembley, Pasta Remoli and so many high-street favourites like Nandos and Pizza Express at the London Designer Outlet.
Our children always love a day like this of family fun and it sounds like Wembley Park will have all their boxes ticked this weekend – music, shows, face painting, learning circus skills and so many places to grab some food too. Not to mention a play in the playground! A free day out really doesn’t get much better than this.
