2012

2012 was a really great year overall.

It was the year I got back into Twitter, and with that came a huge amount of support, help, encouragement and some new, great friends! It was whilst being on Twitter again that I decided to start this Blog and I am glad I did, it has been a place for me to be honest, to vent, to try and support others and to give a perspective of things. My blogging and Twitter-ing will definitely continue into 2013.

9th January 2012 was when I first joint Weight Watchers properly. I started at 13st 10lb, having been 14st 7lb the day after LP was born the previous August. By the middle of June I was down to my goal weight of 10st 10lb and managed to get down to 10st 5lb before I found out I was pregnant again. I am incredibly proud of that weight loss and will definitely be doing Weight Watchers again after having Belly-Baby, although I am sure I will not put on as much weight during this pregnancy.

February 2012 we started weaning LP. To look at her now, 10 months later, it’s amazing how far she has come. Going down the Baby Led Weaning route was definitely the right move for us as a family. Despite the mess at the start, and the occasional gagging in the first few weeks/months there have been no other negatives. LP has always eaten what we have, I have never pureed anything and I have never ‘fed’ LP anything. She now uses a spoon and fork really well, using her hands too to get the food in quicker! She loves to eat, eats a huge variety and continues to impress me with her table manners – using a napkin to wipe her mouth, putting all the bits of food and cutlery back on her plate when she’s finished and passing the plate to us with a ‘ta’.

1st April 2012 was LP’s best friend’s Christening. They are still best friends now and I know this will continue for years to come. Seeing them both develop their personalities and seeing them play together is constantly rewarding. They are both such incredibly little people.

19th April we took LP swimming for the first and only time. I feel slightly bad that she hasn’t been swimming more but I know that she’ll benefit from it more when she’s slightly older. I am planning on starting her having swimming lessons either at the end of 2013 or the start of 2014 but am happy at the moment knowing that she loves bath time, loves the water and has no issues with confidence in water. We spent a lot of the summer playing in the pool in the garden and will definitely be doing that again next summer.

29th April 2012 was when we started researching Childcare for when I returned to work. We ended up meeting a few flexible childminders and chose one we liked within a few weeks. This definitely cemented for me the fact I was going back to work and was one of the hardest things I had to do. The prospect of leaving LP all day whilst I went back to work full time was horrendous, but it had to be done.

August 2012 brought with it not only LP’s first Birthday but also the birth of her newest teeniest chum. To be able to watch one of my closest friends go through the first weeks and months of having a baby has been lovely and to be able to help when I can – mainly with cups of tea and a chat, has been great.

We had our first family holiday in Cornwall in September and had a really perfect time – after a more than iffy start and whilst we were there we had the privilege of seeing two really good friends get married in the nicest wedding I’ve been to – it suited them perfectly! From the family church, to the readings, to the Marquee on the Bride’s parents’ farm, to the Cider for the toast instead of champagne. It really was a lovely day and was a definite highlight of 2012.

1st October 2012 saw me go back to work full time and saw LP going off to the childminder. Both of which have worked out really well, although having found out I was pregnant again it turns out both work and the childminder will only be temporary.

10th November 2012 will be remembered for being the worst day of 2012, and probably the worst day of years before and after that. We found out that LP had broken her leg and after this followed 4 weeks of awful bath times, broken sleep and an LP that was just not herself.

5th December 2012 LP had her cast removed and everything got better!

Between then and now there have been a lot of negative things going on, but I was trying mainly to focus on the positives of 2012, or the major things that have happened, and to be honest, I think the negative things that have happened are not even worth writing about. 2012 has, overall, been a really great year and definitely a great prelude to 2013! There is definitely a lot to look forward to next year.
