Treacle Flapjack Recipe

We love flapjacks in our house and when I found a tin of black treacle in the kitchen recently I thought I’d try making Treacle Flapjacks with it, basically just substituting the golden syrup I usually use for treacle! And it worked really well.

Ingredients

  • 150 g margarine or butter
  • 150 g soft brown sugar
  • 90 ml treacle
  • 300 g porridge oats

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 160C/325F/Gas 3 and grease a suitable baking tin.
  • Put the margarine, sugar and treacle in a saucepan and melt in the pan over a low heat, stirring regularly.
  • Add the rolled oats and stir until combined.
  • Spread mixture onto the baking tray and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Slice whilst still warm and leave to cool in the baking tray.
