Chocolate Nutella Loaf Cake Recipe

A light, moist chocolate loaf cake that is full of flavour and perfect for any Nutella fan! Enjoy straight from the oven or frost with Nutella buttercream icing.

Ingredients

  • 170 g caster sugar
  • 170 g butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 200 g self raising flour
  • 30 g cocoa
  • 100 g Nutella

For the Nutella buttercream icing:

  • 100 g butter softened unsalted
  • 150 g icing sugar
  • 100 g Nutella
  • 1 tbsp milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven at 160C/300F/Gas 2
  • Line or grease a loaf tin.
  • Put all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix until well combines.
  • Pour the cake batter mixture into the prepared loaf pan and bake in the middle of the oven for 50-60 minutes until brown on the top and a skewer comes out clean. Leave to cool completely on a wire rack.
  • To make the Nutella icing, mix the Nutella, icing sugar, butter and milk in a large mixing bowl along until you have created a light, rich, Nutella icing.
  • Prepare the cake by levelling the top if needed and cutting in half lengthways.
  • Pipe half the icing on top of the cake base before putting the top half back in place. Ice the top of the cake with the rest of the Nutella icing.
  • Slice and enjoy!
