Work Life Balance in the Holidays {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

Work Life Balance in the Holidays {The Ordinary Moments}

We are now two weeks into the holidays and we have two weeks left – before we spend the last chunk of the holidays in Florida. I wrote last year about being a self employed, work at home parent, juggling work with our plans over the summer – and this year really isn’t much different although my workload has increased over the last year and so this summer I have even more work to do.

The children have spent the last week at a summer camp which has been amazing and eye opening. It’s given them so much fun each day but it has been long days for them – 8am to 6pm. They have loved every minute, made new friends, learnt new games and just enjoyed themselves so much. And it has also given me so much time to work, get ahead and schedule content in for the rest of the summer.

But, aside from the last week, the children are at home and we are here, there and everywhere on adventures. We literally don’t have a day free in the holidays and this means that work takes a sideline. I reply to emails when I can but other than that I work in the evenings, staying up later to get everything done and dedicating the days to LP and Little Man.

And it works. No, it’s not ideal and there are days when I would love to spend my evening doing anything than staring at my laptop but I know that I am so, so lucky to be able to work around the children, to have the whole summer creating memories with them and work as well. I am in such a fortunate position and I will never take that for granted.

So that is our summer. Days of adventures and memory making, evenings of working and the whole time willing September to not come too soon.
