Winging It {The Ordinary Moments}
Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I always write as openly I can and it’s no secret that I love my job and the work life balance that it gives me. I feel like I have the best of many worlds – being able to do something I really enjoy, being able to work around the children and being able to work from home without any childcare costs. But, I’ve also made no secret of how working through the holidays is a constant juggling act and it’s safe to say that this summer I am winging it, trying to do everything whilst keeping all the plates spinning. And four weeks through the summer I feel like it’s working – even if it’s not a technique I’d like to continue after September!
Through term time I have a really great working life. I have six hours a day to work – write, take photos, do admin, sort emails and also go to the gym, run errands and keep on top of everything. It changes massively in the holidays.
This summer I am managing being self employed and working from home as best I can. I work when I can – when the children are in bed, in the afternoon after a day out or as a passenger in the car on a long journey. But there is only so much you can squeeze into those few hours and I know that when September comes I’ll have a huge pile of admin to work my way through.
The children are having an amazing summer. We have had an incredible holiday and so many days out. We’ve seen so many friends and even had a bit of down time too. It has been lovely for them. So having six weeks where I have to wing it where work is concerned is a small price to pay for a fantastic summer and I know normal service will resume when they’re back at school – in just a couple weeks. Where has the summer gone?

It sounds like you are having an awesome summer. I also think you do an incredible job of ‘winging it’. Sometimes it is best just to go with the flow- whatever works for you Donna. You’re smashing it!
You are doing a wonderful job. I find myself envying work at home mums during term time & glad I’m not a work at home mum during the holidays. It’s a constant juggle & I know it’s hard. You can only do what you can & you’ll get there. Hugs xx
