Ways to easily update a room with HomeSense

One of my favourite places to shop for homeware is HomeSense – it’s a great one stop shop for everything you could need around the house and I love to spend time browsing the aisles and looking at all the quirky things they have on show.

It’s the time of year where I’m looking to sort out house out, declutter and rearrange things, giving each room a new lease of life and a freshen up ready for spring. Here are my top ways to update a room, using HomeSense as inspiration:

Declutter – It’s great to have a clear out before trying to update a room but all the things you keep you can tidy away nicely into baskets or boxes making them look so much nicer when they’re out on show.

Fabrics – Having a new throw, bedspread, cushions or even tea towels can brighten a room and make it look fresh and new. They’re a great way of adding a bit of colour or tying the whole room together

Wall Decor – Something nice on the wall, a clock, print or nice frame can really add a focal point to a room and give a blank space more purpose. If you’re lacking a theme in a room wall decor can be a great starting point.

Accessories – A newly decorated room can feel sparse and blank until you add some accessories. Candles, trinket boxes, vases or new kitchen nic naks can easily make a room your own.

Lighting – Having new ceiling lights, shades, a nice lamp or even some well placed candles can add ambience to a room and make it more inviting. It’s also a great way to focus attention on certain parts of a room.

Statement Furniture – Lastly, if your budget allows, get a statement piece of furniture. A side table, ottoman or a new chair can really make a room and finding something that suits your personality as well as the room is one of the great thing about furniture shopping!

I’m not sure we have a Homesense near us – love the look of the produce though x

I definitely need some nice new storage boxes for all of Toby’s toys and cloth nappies, not to mention the laundry basket that’s now way too small for all of his food stained clothes! Love that chair, we have something similar xx

I keep opening the door to the box room, looking in and shutting the door again. A major project for 2015! Decluttering definitely required along with new storage solutions, an office area so I can move out of the living room – need I say more!

I have never been in a Home Sense before but I think there is a new one in Watford. Will definitely be going in for a browse! xx
