Ultimate Driving Playlist – A Meme

I’ve been tagged by the lovely EllieBearBabi in this meme. Thanks – I love having any, or no, excuse to write something!

I don’t spend a huge amount of time in the car anymore, usually only when we drive up to see family in Nottingham, over to Bristol or all the way to the West Country. You’ll have to bare with me with this playlist, my musical knowledge ended somewhere in the 90’s….!

1 – Coldplay – Yellow. This was the first dance song at our wedding. It’s a song that Hubby and I have loved ‘forever’ and a song that I can’t help but sing along to when it comes on the radio.

2 – Van Halen – Jump. Back in 2004, 3 weeks after I met Hubby, I did a sky dive. It was my ‘f*ck it, let’s start again’ way of dealing with life and I am so glad I did it. I paid to have a cameraman jump with me and film the whole thing. I now have a DVD of the skydive and this song is a big part of the soundtrack.

3 – Ronan Keating – Life’s a Rollercoaster. This song needs no explanation. Guilty pleasures and all that 🙂

4 – Foo Fighters – All My Life – on 7th June 2008 Foo Fighters played Wembley Stadium supported by Supergrass (Pumpin’ on the Stereo – Tune!!). We were waiting literally all day for the Foos to come on stage. When they finally came on, the crowd surged forward, then it surged back, and forward… Massive tidal wave of people. I got squished, Hubs and I got pulled out and we ended up watching the whole gig from the side of the stage. This was the first song that was played, it has an awesome, angry beat and reminds me of that incredible gig.

5 – Meredith Brooks – Bitch. This song reminds me of being an angsty teen. I know all the words from laying on my bed when I was about 15 with my headphones on, deafening myself!

6 – Alanis Morissette – Hand In My Pocket. Another song that reminds me of being an angsty teen. Jagged Little Pill – Awesome album.

7 – Lenny Kravitz – Black Velveteen. I Love Lenny. I’ve seen Lenny twice in London, both times at the Brixton Academy. The first time I touched his leg, the next time his hand. I love Lenny – did I say that already?!

8 – Steps – 5,6,7,8. This reminds me of being 17 and working late at night stocking shelves in Woolworths – dancing down the aisles! Another guilty pleasure!

9 – Toploader – Dancing In The Moonlight. Such a feel good song, love it!

10 – Carpenters – We’ve Only Just Begun. This reminds me of being a small child and my mum singing whilst doing the washing up. I love the Carpenters and this song reminds me of a mostly incredibly happy childhood!

Writing this list has reminded me of something that I had forgotten. Music really is the soundtrack to life.
