Travelling with Children {The Ordinary Moments}

When Dave and I planned to go to Rome to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary so many people asked us if we were taking the children or jetting off just the two of us. Honestly, we didn’t even consider not taking the children with us.
We love going on holiday and always have done. My first trip abroad was to the Dominican Republic with Dave just three months after we met and since then we’ve been on our solo trip to Rome, Paris, Mexico, Tunisia, Egypt and more. But, once the children came along travelling wasn’t just about seeing the world it was about showing our children the world and getting to experience it through their eyes.
I know that if we’d gone to Rome, just the two of us, we would be talking about the children constantly, pointing out things they’d love to see and wishing they were here with us. So having them here by our sides makes sense and seeing them experience a city we love so much has been eye opening. I think they love it as much as we do.
The children learn so much for our holidays and they remember facts weeks, months and years later that I didn’t even realise they’d taken on board. Plus, they get to learn the language – happily saying buongiorno, scusami and ciao ciao to anyone who will listen.
Holidays for us are a family thing and travelling with children can be such hard work but it can be incredibly rewarding too. We have never had so many toilet breaks or snack stops on a holiday and have never before orders mains to share. But, we have also had a break away that we’ll be talking about for years and that really is priceless.

I would never consider going without my kids. Not until they are much older and would hate to be away from them. I think your trip sounds amazing & it’s great to experience places through kids eyes xx
