Tongue Rolling {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

Tongue rolling is something I have never been able to do and I have had years of envying other people’s tongue rolling abilities. When I met Dave and he couldn’t roll his tongue either I thought that when we had kids they wouldn’t be able to roll their tongues, I thought it was hereditary and gave it no more thought.

But one day LP came home from school and proudly rolled her tongue at us, asking if we could do it too. I was so taken aback. I really thought it was a genetic thing that you got from your parents and if it is LP has somehow broken the mould on that one.

LP now proudly rolls her tongue whenever she can, loving that it’s something the rest of her family can’t do and feeling so proud of her little achievement. It’s so funny to watch as it’s come so natural to her, it’s so effortless and yet it’s something I can’t even comprehend doing.

I wonder how many more things in life LP will learn and how many more skills she’ll teach herself over the years. Now it’s rolling her tongue but in the future she could be juggling, flying trapeze or diving with sharks. I cannot wait to see where life takes her and what she achieves along the way.
