This Time Ten Years Ago… A Meme

I was tagged by Colette at We’re Going on an Adventure to talk about what I was doing ten years ago. I hadn’t realised what a symbolic year 2004 was until being tagged in this.

Ten Years Ago… I was 19 and a half

Ten Years Ago… I had been living away from my family home for 2 and a half years, lodging in a room in a house, living with the people that owned the house. A tiny box room that contained all my possessions in the world.

Ten Years Ago… I had been working for my current employer for just under a year. It was a lot different to my old job working in Woolworths and I finally felt like a ‘proper’ grown up, with a ‘proper’ job.

Ten Years Ago… I was learning to drive and would pass my test that August on my third attempt…!

Ten Years Ago… I was juggling working with trying to do my A-Levels in the evenings, having had to drop out of college when I got kicked out of home two years previously. This was my second attempt at trying to resit my A-Levels in the evenings and for the second time I gave up – Working full time and trying to study was exhausting. It wasn’t making me happy and now, looking back, I didn’t need those A-Levels anyway.

Ten Years Ago… I was actually in the middle of one of the hardest years of my life. I was going out and socialising ALL THE TIME. Drinking a lot, clubbing on week nights and living to excess. I wasn’t happy and was socialising to blur out everything else.

Ten Years Ago… I couldn’t actually see any light at the end of the tunnel. It was actually the lowest point in my life and looking back it was going to end badly, I couldn’t see any way of it ending well.

Ten Years Ago… I had no idea that in just three short months I would meet my future Husband. A man that would save me from myself and turn my life around instantly.

Ten Years Ago… I had my one and only year, half a year really, of acting like a teenager – Drinking, clubbing and being reckless.

Ten Years Ago… In the August I did a Sky Dive to put the past behind me. 12,000 feet and the most exhilarating experience of my life.

Ten Years Ago… I went on my first holiday abroad in the October. After just three months together my future Dave whisked me away to the Dominican Republic.

Ten Years Ago… The first of my three younger siblings arrived in July. Making me a very proud big sister.

Ten Years Ago… I fell in love for the first time, felt loved for the first time and really trusted someone for the first time.

Ten Years Ago… My life really started.

2004 started as an awful year but I did a Sky Dive, had my first holiday abroad and it definitely finished on a high, I felt like part of a family again and I met the man I’d marry. Not a bad year at all really!

Wow – How has it been ten years already?!… I got the Sex and the City DVD boxset for Christmas!
