The Milky Way Adventure Park – Devon

Disclosure: We were invited on this day out for the purpose of this post however all opinions are my own.

During our half term in Devon we were invited to spend a day at The Milky Way Adventure Park. The children were so excited and I honestly had no idea what to expect but we were looking forward to a lovely day out in the Devon countryside.

The Milky Way Adventure Park is situated near Clovelly in a really beautiful part of the country and it’s billed as an award winning all weather family attraction with the biggest indoor play area in North Devon. The theme park really does have something for the whole family.

Our day out started with a walk through a room of memorabilia – one man’s personal collection of Stars Wars and sci fi models and toys. The children loved spotting their favourite characters as we explored the room.

We then found ourselves in the pitch black in a room dedicated to the dodgems. It’s such a great fairground ride and something the whole family can really enjoy so LP and Little Man raced to take their seats. They were only just tall enough to drive the cars but absolutely loved it – especially with the darkness and flashing lights. It was a really great introduction to The Milky Way.

We then ventured outside before the heavens opened and the children went on the Cosmic Typhoon rollercoaster again and again. There was a smaller caterpillar roller coaster but the Cosmic Typhoon was their favourite and one I pretty much had to drag them away from!

Next up was the hedge maze which was great fun to explore and had a lot of challenges to complete as we worked our way round plus a really lovely music making stand in the middle of the maze too.

There was a really lovely train ride which took us around the outside area and past so many animal statues that kept the children interested throughout. The staff on the rides were really lovely – especially on the train – and just so friendly with the children.

The last outdoor activities were jumping pillows that were split into two ages which I thought I was great to stop little ones getting bumped by older children. LP and Little Man love these pillows and would happily stay on them for hours.

But, before long we moved onto the Gravity Rider slide where you dragged a donut up to the top before sliding all the way down. There was no height limit on this and we saw so many parents and grandparents sliding down too – it’s such simple fun!

We spent the rest of the day making the most of the indoor fun and the children loved the soft play area. It was absolutely huge with so many different types of slides, a ball pit and huge areas to climb around and enjoy.

There were other soft play areas for young children including the Little Stars soft play near the restaurant as well as so many shows on throughout the day too. The Milky Way is also home to the North Devon bird of prey centre and they have regular falconry shows through the season. The Milky Way Adventure Park is a really full day out for all the family. We could have easily stayed from opening time until closing time and loved that as well as a cafe there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor space for picnics too.

There’s also a new ride for 2019, Ziggy’s Blast Quest – a laser shooting adventure! However, you’re given tickets to ride on it when you arrive and by the time we went to go on it we’d lost them! The children didn’t mind as there’s so much else to do but it might be better to stamp people’s hands as they go on the ride as it’s limited to one turn per person.

At The Milky Way you pay one entrance fee and everything else is included – aside from a small cost for archery and pottery painting. The children can go on the attractions as many times as they like without you having to spend anything extra which makes it a really affordable family day out.

We loved The Milky Way and know that we would have had a great day whatever the weather – there’s enough to keep the children entertained there on a rainy day but it would also be a really great day out at the height of summer too. I can’t wait to go back with the children the next time we’re in the area. You can find out more about The Milky Way here.
