Where has the summer gone?! Little Loves took a break for the summer and I’m glad it did – I have no idea how I would have found the time to write it otherwise! But, I have saved up all the things I’ve loved over the last month to share with you – so hold onto your hat, this may be a long one!
I read SO MANY books on holiday but I won’t tell you about all of them – I did that over on my Facebook page at the time. But, I had two favourites. Everything Everything I read in literally three hours. Oh my gosh, I just couldn’t put it down! It’s about a girl who needs to live in a protective atmosphere for her health an it’s so well written and with so many twists in the story. I was even more excited to come back from holiday to see it’s being made into a movie too!
I also read Small Great Things which was one of the best books I have read in a long time. A real page turner. It taught me so much about different races through the ages. It made me cry in a few places, kept me guessing until the very end and I’m sure I am a better person for reading it.
I’ve also been reading up on Photoshop Elements 15. It’s the first time I’ve used Photoshop after saying for years that I just liked photos how they came out the camera and not editing them apart from cropping the edges off.
But, I’ve discovered that Photoshop has guides to help you do tasks – you don’t have to use Photoshop fully straight away as the guides can help you to edit photos for albums, frames or to put on social media. I’ve realised that Photoshop isn’t just for professionals, it’s for people like me and every other parent that just wants nice photos to look back on.
So I’ve been cropping photos, brightening photos, removing objects from photos and I’ll soon be switching faces and replacing backgrounds – can you see the people I got rid of in the photos below? I’m so pleased with myself!
It’s amazing what it lets you do and it’s definitely opened my world to the idea of editing photos. I’ll be trying the Premiere Elements video editor as soon as I have something to edit too!
Hubby and I went to the cinema to see Dunkirk and it was such a great movie. The soundtrack was incredible and it taught me so much about the war that I didn’t know. All those boats… Britain should be so proud of it’s heritage and the fact that when we need to pull together we really do – regardless of what has happened in the 70 years since then!
We also watched Arrival which was the sort of sci-fi movie I love. It was really deep with a story that you had to really watch to understand but was really well done. Hubby and I really enjoyed it and there were parts at the beginning you only understood right at the end. It is well worth watching.
We went to see Stomp at the theatre and it was AMAZING. It doesn’t have dialogue or a real story but it kept us completely engrossed throughout – how these people can make music out of dust on the floor I will never know but it was the best thing I’ve heard in a long time.
I have made countless cups of tea in my new mug which was a gift from Laura. How perfect for me is this mug?!
Before the summer LP and I made a bake of the week but we stopped making them as life was just too busy but we did make a trifle randomly last week. There was no reason for the trifle other than it was on my annual bucket list and I hadn’t made one yet. It was pretty lovely and I’ll be making one again.
LP and I have been wearing matching t-shirts from Redhead Threads. The brand celebrate all things ginger and our t-shirts let us silently carry on that celebration together. MC1R is the ginger gene that makes us who we are and as we both love being ginger it’s something we should really shout about. We’ve been wearing our tees with pride.
I’ve also been using new skin products over the last few months and getting into a new skincare routine. I’ve been using Bioderma Hydrabio Gel-Crème after cleansing with Institut Esthederm Osmoclean each evening and my skin feels so much better for it. It’s nice to finally start doing something for my skin and to have a proper evening routine in place.
It’s LP’s birthday on Monday – my baby girl turns six! I have no idea where the time is going but she’s having a party on Sunday and I cannot wait to celebrate her birthday – and six years of being a parent. Today six years ago was actually my due date – and I was bouncing on my birth ball watching Jeremy Kyle on repeat! How life changes.
Have a great weekend everyone!
