I love Christmas and my favourite part is putting the tree up. Clearing out the lounge, moving the furniture around and setting the tree up in pride of place in our bay window. The space was made for the tree and each year we buy new decorations to add to our existing collection, giving us the feeling of a new tree year after year.
This year we went to Poundland for extra tree additions and I was actually blown away by the variety on offer – all for just £1. There was tinsel, basic multipacks of baubles, smaller packs of more fancy baubles and individual glass baubles of all different colours and styles to suit and Christmas theme.
Our tree has always been red, white and silver – pretty traditional, festive colours and so we bought some new red baubles in both a matt and gloss finish as well as a pack of silver, red and white bells that fit both a modern or traditional style and have that Polar Express feel to them.
We also bought some new silver and red bead chains that are a great alternative to tinsel and give our tree a more minimalist feel – as minimalist as you can get with a million baubles on it anyway.
The children chose their own decorations – spiderman for Little Man and Frozen for LP, both loving that Poundland had their favourite characters for them to choose from. But, they also loved looking at the sparkly stars in the big glass baubles we chose together and we all liked the spiked finish to our silver baubles – adding lovely texture to the tree.
But, we didn’t just decorate the tree at Poundland, we also bought some things to finish off the mantlepiece – with festive candle holders and a string of star lights. There were so many string lights, all battery operated and perfect for making any part of your home festive.
We are now well and truly set for Christmas and I can’t wait to put my Santa hat on, sit on the floor next to the tree, listening to Christmas music and wrapping presents – Baileys in hand. This is definitely my favourite time of the year.
Disclosure: I was given vouchers to spend at Poundland for the purpose of this post however all opinions are my own.
