A Sporting Start with Denise Lewis and Weetabix #SportingStarts
*This is a collaborative post
Over the summer Weetabix are hosting their #Sportingstarts campaign, which aims to encourage people of any age and ability to step up and try something new as far as sport is concerned. Weetabix recently challenged Denise Lewis to take up cricket – something completely new to her.
As we all know Denise Lewis OBE for being a multiple medal-winning athlete – how would she fair out of her comfort zone in a sport that was completely different to what she is used to? You can see how she got on in this series of videos below:
Denise Lewis’ career is in Heptathalon and when asked how she got into it, she said “I watched the Olympics in 1980 and just loved it. I didn’t know something like that existed, I was riveted, I watched all of it during the summer holidays, and I just wanted to be an athlete!” So you can see why Denise Lewis thinks it’s so important to inspire a new generation to not only aim to be athlete’s themselves but also to have fun. Denise commented; “What I think is important for most children is that when we first go into an environment like that is that they’re having fun.”
So it makes sense that this summer Weetabix are producing over 15 million special, marked promotional packs, across the entire Weetabix range. They will be in stores to encourage all ages and abilities to get active with an instant win code as well as a free or 2-4-1 sports session with every promotional pack – and some codes will even unlock top tier rewards such as sports kits or experiences with athletes like Denise Lewis herself – can you imagine being trained in Heptathalon by Denise Lewis? How incredible would that be!
Sports can fit so easily into your lifestyle – even with a family – and they don’t have to take up too much time or be expensive either. I know that over the next weeks Weetabix will be inspiring many families to get up off the sofa – and I can’t wait to try out a new sport too.
