Roman Day {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. It seems like every week the children have something fun going on at school – which is great as it makes learning so much more exciting for them and they always learn better when they’re getting hands on. Last week LP had Roman Day at school where all the children went into school dressed as Romans and they spent the day learning more about Roman life.

LP learnt how to march like a Roman, they sang songs, danced, saw Roman armour and weapons, made their own Roman shield and had what sounds like the best school day LP has ever had.

Roman Day had been on the calendar for months and LP spent ages planning her costume and talking about what the day would entail. When it finally arrived she was so excited about it – announcing as soon as she woke up that it was Roman Day and rushing to get her costume on.

I weaved a gold laurel wreath into her hair as I plaited it and she put her boots on, feeling completely in role as an honorary Roman for the day.

When I picked her up at the end of the day she was so happy and she said that she wished it could be Roman Day every day. I really appreciate the school putting things like this together as she had so much fun and learnt so much too. I wonder what she’ll be learning about next?
