Weight Watchers Limited Edition Meals Review

Any long term reader will know how I spent years following the Weight Watchers plan and lost a lot of weight on it, making Weight Watchers a way of life rather than just another diet. One thing that I have always enjoyed as part of my balanced diet are Weight Watchers prepared meals that are just so handy to have in the fridge to grab when I need something quick and healthy whilst being nutritionally balanced too.

Weight Watchers are launching new Limited Edition chilled prepared meals that will be available for just 12 weeks until new ones are released – and they sent me the first two flavours to try out. These are the Naked Enchilada & Mexican Style Rice and the Brazilian Bahia Chicken & Rice which are both full of the flavours of summer and perfectly timed for the Brazilian Olympics too!

The Naked Enchilada & Mexican Style Rice was a two part meal – with one part rice and beans and the other chicken in a thick sauce. Both parts were full of flavour and the whole dish was wonderfully spiced. It was just like enchiladas minus the bread and it really did look just like the picture on the packet.

The Brazilian Bahia Chicken & Rice was a one pot meal, full of flavour and with a really nice spicy kick to it that I really enjoyed. When I first took the meal out of the microwave it looked quite wet but as soon as I stirred it together it was a lovely consistency and so easy to eat.

I found that both of the meals were a good portion size, really nice and filling with a good balance of ingredients to give a really interesting meal. There was a good amount of chicken too – one thing that is often scrimped on in prepared meals.

Both of the Weight Watchers meals took just a few minutes to cook in the microwave and after being left to stand for a couple of minutes they were ready to eat – perfect for a quick lunch or dinner and great to have on hand if you’re often short of time to prepare meals.

All of the meals are also less than 400 calories, low in fat and sugar, a good source of protein and contain no artificial colours or flavourings. They are all aimed to allow you to try new cuisines whilst sticking to your good eating habits and I’m excited to see what other meals Weight Watchers produce in the new Limited Edition range.

The Brazilian Bahia Chicken is exclusive to Asda and the Naked Enchilada is available from Asda, Morrisons and Ocado both with an RRP of £2.59

I like my cake far too much to follow a diet but I am trying to make healthier choices in an effort to shift the baby bulge so these look like a great alternative to other ready meals (and I am quite partial to a microwaved dinner on a lazy night).

These sound really good. I’d only eat the veggie ones but if the naked enchilada one is veggie then I’d definitely buy that for lunch, it sounds ideal.
