LP and Little Man love construction toys but they also love ones that really get them thinking. When SmartMax sent us their Playground XL set it really got both LP and Little Man thinking from the start.
The Playground XL set includes so many different pieces – with magnetic bars, magnetic balls, pipes and plastic walls to make pretty much anything – it’s only limited by a child’s imagination.
LP and Little Man spent a long time just using the magnetic bars and balls to create different shapes – with LP making rainbow flowers and 2D shapes and Little Man being a bit more adventurous, getting me to help him make a 2D plane and then a cube.
Both LP and Little Man could easily put the pieces together themselves and take them apart again but the magnets were strong enough to make sturdy sculptures and there are plenty of ideas and inspiration in the instruction guide too.
Eventually the children started using the pipe elements too and loved making their very own playground for the magnetic balls to move through. Each of the pieces are well made and fit together easily making the SmartMax Playground XL a great alternative to other construction toys.
The bright colours and chunky pieces make this a great toy for pretty much any age and LP and Little Man could play happily with it together indefinitely. It’s a toy that they can enjoy for years and is compatible with many other SmartMax products to a great investment that can be the start of a SmartMax collection.
The SmartMax Playground XL has an RRP of £44.99
