LP loves jigsaws but as she has mastered the ones that we have at home she has become bored of them, looking for more of a challenge. Orchard Toys sent us their Woodland Party jigsaw and LP was immediately interested – loving the children in the picture, the dancing animals and the party food.
Like all Orchard Toys products, the Woodland Party comes in a sturdy storage box and all the pieces are made of really thick card with a glossy finish. It’s a jigsaw that is made to last.
The Woodland Party jigsaw has seventy pieces – a lot more than any of LP’s previous jigsaws. This meant that LP needed help initially to start the jigsaw but she had great fun making it with us. She has learnt that you should make the edges of jigsaws first and then loved finding the different characters from the remaining pieces.
We found the Woodland Party jigsaw wasn’t just great for playing jigsaws but it was also a great way of opening up conversation with LP, testing her on animal names and getting her to spot different things in the picture on the front of the box. The jigsaw has so much detail that LP could have talked about it for hours after we made it – and we’ve already made it multiple times too.
This is a great next stage jigsaw. One where children can learn how to make proper jigsaws but where you can help them learn. Ones that both parents and children can enjoy together and where the child can eventually make the whole jigsaw by themselves. I know LP is far from being able to do the whole Woodland Party jigsaw by herself but we’ll have fun helping her until then.
The Woodland Party has an RRP of £9.75
