Books feature quite often on this blog but I hadn’t, until now, featured any personalised books. LP and LM don’t have many things that are personalised and when Love2Read gave us the opportunity to review one of their personalised range of photo picture books I jumped at the chance.
Love2Read create books that have a combination of keywords, your own words and photos to help your children learn to read and keep them engaged whilst reading. As the children will be familiar with the things in the photos the reading really comes to life for them.
Looking through the range of books available and there’s something for everyone – My Mum, My Dad, My Family, Memories of the year, Christmas, my first year… There really is a huge selection of books that you can create and we chose the My Family book. Inside the front cover you can personalise the book with your child’s name and a message so I’ve written that This book belongs to LP. This book is of your family Christmas 2013′ as new family members come along each year I don’t want her to think in the future that anyone was missed out!
The book has a lovely red glossy cover and the first four photos that you place in the book appear on the cover. You then have 10 pages with photos on and underneath each says ‘I see…’ When creating the book you then fill in each page to say what is in the picture. Throughout this book LP can read ‘I See Mummy and Daddy’, ‘I see My Brother’, ‘I see Nanny and Alfie Dog’ etc. On the last pages there’s a collage of 9 photos from the book and information about Love2Read.
The Love2Read Book is made from good quality card with a professional finish. The pictures in the book are as good quality as the photos you upload and when creating the book a warning appears if the photo isn’t good enough quality.
LP loves this book and has already been pointing out the people in the book. I’m hoping that over time this should familiarise LP with her own name and other key words such as Mummy, Daddy, Brother and Family.
Disclosure: We were given a code to create a book for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.
