One thing I hardly ever do is dry cleaning. I actually don’t know where my nearest dry cleaners is and the thought of dragging my dirty washing there – or the curtains, duvets and sofa covers – isn’t really appealing. But when an email landed in my inbox to introduce me to Johnsons Online Dry Cleaning Service it literally blew my mind – dry cleaning where you don’t even have to leave the house!
We had literally just switched our duvets over to thicker winter ones and wanted to get the old ones cleaned before putting them into storage until next spring. I was amazed at the amount of household products Johnsons are able to clean and so I got to work placing my order – such a simple process.
You literally select which items you would like dry cleaned, add them to your basket and then pay. There is a collection and delivery fee totalling £10 but this is per transaction rather than per item so it would work out best to dry clean as much as possible in one go. A courier is then arranged to come and collect your dry cleaning.
Once I had placed the order I received an email letting me know that I had to put the items in polythene bags – I just used bin liners – and I attached a copy of the invoice to the bags for reference. They were then collected by a courier who put them into a sturdy box for transportation.
With both the collection and delivery I had text messages confirming the date and time that the courier would be with me and had emails confirming that the items had been received and would be cleaned and returned as soon as possible.
The duvets were sent back in big plastic bags which would be perfect to store them in until needed. They were so clean and fresh and so much nicer than when we attempt to wash duvets at home – it never ends well! The whole process from placing the order until the duvets were returned to us took just six days which was a lot quicker than I expected and I was so impressed with the service.
Dry cleaning isn’t for everyone and it really isn’t for everything – you wouldn’t dry clean your usual washing each week. But, if you’re having a spring clean or have items that you can’t wash yourself then Johnsons dry cleaning could be the answer – especially now that you can organise it all from the comfort of your own home.
