Hubby and I love a good game evening and we love nothing better than an evening with good friends, playing games, having a few drinks and passing hours with often non-stop laughter.
A good grown up game is hard to find and we were sent The Game of Things to try out. It’s aimed at age 14 and over, so perfect for teenagers and adults especially over the festive season.
The basis of the game is to think of different things in response to the prompts on the cards. These are things like things you would do if you were invisible, things you shouldn’t do in a group of people, things you can’t believe that someone actually did and things that make you angry.
As you can see, the things are quite broad, open to interpretation and could have as much of an adult theme as the players allow – hence, not really being suitable for children.
The idea of the game is for the players to guess who said which answer. If you guess correctly you get a point and if no-one guesses the thing that you wrote down was yours then you get two points. The player with the most points at the end wins – making it a game that can last as long as you want it to really.
The Game of Things is as fun as you make it and the things that you write down can be wacky, serious or just a bit silly – and that’s all part of the fun. If you write down something that no-one would ever expect you to think or say then you are sure to be a winner.
We have loved playing The Game of Things and I know it will be popular over Christmas when we have all the family round. The more players the better although it suggests four as a minimum but with more players there are more possibilities of who wrote what! A great, entertaining game.
The Game of Things has an RRP of £32.99
Disclosure: We were sent the above game for the purpose of this review however all opinions are my own.
