Review: Brio Fire and Rescue Sets

There’s one thing that Little Man can’t live without at the moment and that’s trains. He literally lives for them – watches them on TV, plays with them and even dreams about them at night. So when Brio sent him a couple of toys from their Fire and Rescue range he was pretty excited to expand his train set collection.

The Brio Firefighter Set is the perfect first train set but would also be a great extra addition for any train loving child. It includes enough wooden track to make a circuit along with a two piece fire themed train, a fire truck, gas station and other accessories.

The fire train fits together with magnets making it really easy to interchange pieces and the carriage incorporates a ladder and hose, great for acting out all those fire play scenes!

The fire truck is also fantastic with a ladder, space for the driver to sit and the most exciting part – working sirens and lights. Little Man loves this vehicle and even took it on the school run with him. The sound isn’t very loud and so it’s great for him to play with and not disturb anyone else.

The Brio Rescue Boat is a fantastic set that would work well with any existing play set. It includes a car and a carriage that a boat sits on which incorporates a ramp for the boat to slide nicely from and into the water. As well as that it comes with a character to help Little Man act out lots of rescue boat scenes.

Both the sets are really well made, with lots of accessories and can be used independently or together. They’re part of a bigger fire and rescue range, meaning that children can collect the range over time, adding new pieces and finding new ways to play.

I would have liked more of the pieces to be wooden – as I love Brio’s timeless, classic, wooden appeal, however, I know some pieces are more functional and look better made of plastic and Little Man definitely didn’t mind.

Little Man absolutely loved playing with the new Brio range and has already started to play with them alongside his existing trains. All children should have train sets in their lives and Brio are a really well made and long lasting option.

The Brio Firefighter Set has an RRP of £39.99 and the Rescue Boat has an RRP of £14.99

These look fab, I know my girls would like them. I agree with you though, I much prefer it when there’s as much wood as possible.

I love wooden toys. They are generally very robust. I need to do some toy decluttering and buy a few new toys. This looks fun.
