LP adores bath time and we were recently sent a selection of bath toys to review – a good job too as we haven’t had any ‘actual’ bath toys in quite a while, LP has made do with an empty bubble bath bottle and tupperware tub! We were sent three different toys from Boon – Bubbles, Water Bugs and Odd Ducks.
Boon Bubbles consists of a selection of ‘bubbles’ of varying colours and sizes. The bubbles are hollow plastic balls with suction cups attached and the aim is for the child to stick them to each other as well as the side of the bath.
LP loves the bubbles and enjoys playing with them individually. She’ll happily pretend to feed her other toys with the individual bubbles and will chase the bubbles round the bath. When sticking the bubbles to the side of the bath and the top edge of the bath LP needed a helping hand but as her co-ordination grows this will become easier. We did find that the bubbles came apart fairly easily once they were stuck to each other unless you used a lot of force. The Boon Bubbles are aimed at 12 months and over but I think to get the most from them an older child would appreciate them more.
The Boon Water Bugs are three different coloured bugs and a net to catch them with and fish for them in the bath. LP loved fishing for the bugs around the bath and would chase them around in the water. The different colour bugs are great for adding a focus to the toy – I ask LP to find the green or blue bug and she searches everywhere for the right one before catching it in her net.
As well as helping LP to learn her colours, the Boon Water Bugs help LP with her hand eye co-ordination and would be great for a slightly younger child. Although aimed at 9 months and over I think a 9 month old would play with the individual items in this game but it would be used for it’s intended purpose from an older age, maybe over 18 months.
The Boon Odd Ducks are an individual duck from a selection of alternative ‘odd ducks’ – something different from your usual yellow bath time companion. The Odd Duck we were sent was a little blue duck that LP loved straight away – as soon as she saw it she kept saying ‘blue duck, blue duck!’ and wanted it in the bath with her every night.
Boon Odd Ducks would make a great bath time addition for any age and I think that guideline of 6 months and over is appropriate. Even Little Man loves this little blue duck although his baths don’t last long enough to take a photo of him with his new little bath chum!
If you’re looking for new bath toys then Boon have a huge selection and are definitely worth a browse. Boon have toys for every age and to suit all different abilities. The selection we were sent were lovely, vibrant and fun. We’ll be keeping a look out for more Boon products in future!
Disclosure: We were sent the above items for the purpose of this review, however all opinions are my own.
