Preschool

So today LP started preschool.

I was meant to start work at 9am but arranged to go in slightly late so that Dave, the kids and I could all go to preschool together. All LP spoke about in the morning was going to school and she really couldn’t wait. For once it was easy to get her dressed, she sat whilst I did her hair and even put her shoes on willingly. She chose her coat and grabbed her bag and water bottle ready to go.

We walked to her nursery and she walked some of the way but went on the buggy board for some of it too and stayed happy the whole way there. When we got there, ten minutes early, we stood outside to wait for the doors to open and LP looked at everything, watched the other children and exclaimed things like “We made it!” and “We got here on time Mummy!”.

Soon enough it was time for LP to go in and she stayed close to me as we found her peg, hung her coat and bag up, put her name on the board and her drinks up on a table. Then I said hello to the teacher and told LP she could go and play – she went off before I could even say goodbye!

Dave and I left and from outside we could see her playing through the window. She was happy and we went off – I went to work and Dave walked home with Little Man, ready to collect her 90 minutes later – shorter sessions for two weeks to settle in.

When Dave went to collect LP she said she’d had fun and walked most of the way home. She played in the sandpit, built sandcastles and made lots of friends. She loved it! I actually cannot wait for next Wednesday which will be the first day I pick her up.

Day 1 went really well and I’m sure it will continue. We now have daily preschool drop offs and pick ups to work into our routine and her school holidays marked clearly on the calendar. Such a huge change for all of us but I am so proud of how well LP adjusts to these changes.

  1. She looks utterly adorable Donna you must be very proud. Amazing that she settled in so well and had a good time!

It’s sort of bittersweet, the growing up, but ultimately it’s exciting times for all of you – at least that’s what I tell myself 😉 xx
