Holiday Cottage From Hell! Woodview Cottages – Mowhay Cottage, Pensilva, Cornwall Review

Review: Holiday Cottage From Hell! Woodview Cottages - Mowhay Cottage, Pensilva, Cornwall

We booked our first family holiday in Cornwall about 6 months ago, ready for our friend’s wedding on 1st September. We booked a cottage, part of Woodview Cottages – through Holiday Rentals for 8 nights starting on 31st August, and it looked lovely! It was one of many holiday cottages and holiday homes we looked at when searching for short breaks, holidays and properties across the whole of the county.

LP’s 1st Birthday

Cake Smash!

Yesterday, 28th August, was LP’s 1st Birthday!

To mark the occasion we had a gathering at our house on Bank Holiday Monday. A BBQ with friends and family. It was a really lovely day! A few people unfortunately couldn’t make it for various reasons but it was still a lovely day.

Going Back To Work…

Going Back To Work...

I had my first KIT (Keep in Touch) day at work last Tuesday. It was the first time I’d been in a work environment since I went on annual leave/maternity leave on 15th July 2011.

First Missed Baby Bedtime and Hen Do

When all you want is a duvet day...

So, yesterday I was on a Hen Do. It was meant to be a traditional hen do but turned into a girly day out and a nice meal in a restaurant.

I fed LP before I left in the morning and made sure Daddy had instructions on everything LP needed through the day, food etc and then I left for the Hen Do.

The Path to a Decent Night’s Sleep!

The Path to a Decent Night's Sleep!

Well, what better to blog about than a sleeping through baby?

As you all know, LP has never been very good with long stretches of sleep, preferring to wake at best every 4 hours for food. 3 weeks ago though, that all changed. LP decided randomly one day that she would sleep through the night. When I say through, I mean through – 8pm to 9am! 13 hours! After that we didn’t expect it to happen again, we expected it to be a fluke, a one off. But the next night she slept for 12 hours, and on the third night 11 hours. We then had a night where she woke for an hour at 1am.

Recently I have decided that all Mums should bake. And they should bake well – obviously this is a little bit tongue in cheek. This is taking some practice and I think it will take years to perfect! But I think that I have ticked the ‘Mums must make cake’ box, even if the cakes aren’t perfect just yet! One of my favourite cakes is this Banana Cake recipe, as it uses up ‘past their best’ bananas and tastes great too.

Father’s Day

Daddy and LP - 1 Day Old

Last Sunday was Father’s Day. There are three people in my life now who I think about on Father’s Day so I thought I would ‘write to’ each of them on here to get my feelings on paper.

After the popularity of my Cheese Scones recipe, I thought I would also share my Healthy Fruit Scone Recipe for a bit of variety. This basic scone recipe gives a lovely sweet option and something else to add to the baby led weaning menu but also something that the whole family can enjoy. I don’t think you can ever have too many scone recipes!

We have now been Baby Led Weaning for 3 months. Little Pickle has still only fed herself, we have never spoon fed her. BLW is definitely a way of life for us now and I am so glad that we first started weaning this way.

Letter to my 16-Year-Old Self

Letter to my 16-Year-Old Self

The last couple of weeks, and my last couple of blog posts have cemented the fact that I am really proud of where I have got to in life. The last 9 months since LP arrived have been my happiest and I have been thinking often ‘If I knew then what I know now…’
