In just over a month our gorgeous LP will be 2. I have no idea where that time has gone!
Last year I started a tradition, I’m going to write a letter to LP every year on her Birthday, telling her how far she has come, things she has learnt and anything else that she might like to look back on in the future. I’ve just had a read of last year’s letter, in preparation for writing this year’s one, and thought I would share it with you.
On the 2nd February 2009 I came across, and signed up to, a cashback site called Quidco. From what I gathered anything members purchased online you were paid cashback on. I didn’t think it would amount to much but I thought it was worth a shot. What did I have to lose?
I thought I would try and put the last 4 weeks down in writing but now that I’ve come to try and articulate it, I realise how much of a blur the last month has been. This is a feeling I’m sure most parents of newborn babies can relate to – every day/night seems to run into the next, you don’t know if you did something yesterday or the day before or even today or last night. Your life is no longer about day and night or days of the week – your whole life is split into 2 or 3 hour windows (if you’re lucky) that revolve around nappies, feeds and hopefully some sleep!
I feel that I am in quite a fortunate position to have had two great home birth experiences but have also now experienced hospital after care – so in some ways I have seen both sides of the coin whilst still achieving the best possible birth experiences for us as a family.
Well, I always think it’s best to not have a birth plan and to just see what happens. However, we did have a plan of sorts. Baby was going to arrive any time after 14th May – When the Grandparents were back from holiday, they would have LP and we would have a homebirth, or ideally, Baby would arrive at night, LP would sleep through the homebirth and wake up to a new arrival the following morning.
This is a huge milestone. As of tomorrow I am 37 weeks pregnant. This means that baby is ‘term’ as far as the midwives are concerned and I can have another homebirth! Everything for the homebirth got delivered on Thursday and I have been holding my breath since that Baby didn’t make an early appearance.
I have now been away from work for 2 weeks and feel like I haven’t had a moment to relax – That will come though, but for now I am on a mission!
I really don’t think women ‘nest’ as such in pregnancy, I think they just realise how little time they will have after the Baby comes and how many things they had been putting off doing that will get put off even longer if they don’t do them now, right now, in the last few months/weeks of pregnancy.
Our perfect LP is now 18 months old and I find myself constantly amazed by how much she is learning and what a lovely little person she is becoming.
I am now 26 weeks pregnant – 27 weeks this coming Sunday. Belly-Baby apparently weighs 900g and is about 35cm long. Oh how I love pregnancy related apps on my phone, admittedly not as much as I loved them first time around – BabyCentre was my home for the entire pregnancy, this time it’s more of a distant friend I check in with now and again – usually on a Sunday to find out what Baby’s doing this week!
I realised earlier that I haven’t told you about my perfect LP in quite a while so I thought it’d be a good reason to do another blog post!
LP is amazing, and there is now no denying that she’s not a baby anymore – she is very much a perfect little person in her own right.
