Our Dream Kitchen

*This post is in collaboration with TSB

We have been planning our dream kitchen for months. Well years actually, ever since we move into this house. Our kitchen is much bigger than our old kitchen but with a family there just isn’t enough storage space – and the whole house feels a lot smaller than when we bought it. With this in mind we have a grand plan to one day, in a couple of years, extend the downstairs of our house to create a really large kitchen/dining room and also add a utility and downstairs shower room. I’ve been compiling some ideas for this space over on Pinterest here:

We have no firm plans for the kitchen just yet but we do have some ideas of the space we’d like it to be. I have always loved this Ikea kitchen – the white units and wooden worktop, the cabinets that go all the way up to the highest of ceilings and the ceramic butler sink. For me this a style I would love to one day have with lots of storage and lots of light too.

I would accessorize the kitchen with vintage style appliances like the Icona Vintage Kettle and Toaster from Delonghi which would set the tone of the whole room, letting me collect bits and pieces in keeping with the kitchen as the years go by.

I imagine a bit old wooden dresser filled with Emma Bridgewater crockery and a bookcase in a corner filled with cookbooks. There’d be a big island in the middle of the kitchen with stools where the children could chat to me whilst I’m cooking, do their homework and sit with their friends to have snacks in between TV shows.

I dream of a kitchen that is the heart of the home. A place where we can cook, socialise and spend quality time together and I am sure that in a couple of years we’ll have that space I dream of.
