Mufti Day {The Ordinary Moments}

Welcome back to another week of the Ordinary Moments. If you haven’t joined in before this is a weekly linky that launches every Sunday morning and is open until midnight on the following Saturday. It’s a linky that celebrates any ordinary moments in your life – or the not so ordinary some weeks too. Basically – anything goes. I’ll be sharing and commenting on the posts that are linked up during the week and there’s a badge at the bottom of the post if you’d like to add it to yours too.

Mufti Day {The Ordinary Moments}

The children had mufti day at school on Friday and they absolutely loved the novelty of wearing their own clothes for the day. They often have fancy dress days at school with a theme – explorer days, World Book day, roman day, scientist day… But, to just be able to wear their on clothes with no theme, purely to raise money for charity, was so exciting for them.

It also doubled up as school disco day and so Little Man took a shirt with him to change into after school and LP took her sparkly dancing shoes with her – simple tweaks to the outfits they chose to wear.

LP and Little Man are in the same size clothes now and they have their own styles. They know what they like and what they don’t like and although I am the main clothes-buyer in our house the children will choose what they want to wear from the clothes in their wardrobes.

If LP had the choice she would wear pretty dresses all day, every day. But, they aren’t always practical so we end up compromising with more practical dresses and tights or she’ll wear pretty tops, lots of pink, and jeans.

Little Man is happy as long as he can pick his top. He’ll happily wear jeans, combats or joggers and any jumper or hoodie as long as he has his choice of t-shirt underneath.

But, I know one day they’ll be coming clothes shopping with me, picking their own clothes and really deciding what to wear – every day, not just on mufti day. It feels like such a long way off but I know it’ll be here before we know it. These two sure are growing up fast.

The Ordinary Moments

If you have an ordinary moment this week, come and link up – I’m looking forward to reading the moments that you share and will comment and share them on Twitter through the course of the week. Thanks so much for taking part.

  1. Our school often does this and the kids get so excited. I’m sure it’s the earliest the get ready. I do like having a uniform, but it’s nice to have a bit of a change x

  2. I remember non uniform days and getting so excited picking out what I would be wearing but I do think as I got older, I felt the pressure more of what clothes and designers meant
