Hubby and I have been thinking about getting a new mattress for a while but hadn’t quite got around to it and our old mattress was doing the job – just about. When Mattress Next Day offered us a Memory Foam Mattress Topper to review I thought it might be a good way to revive our existing mattress and give us a better night’s sleep.
The mattress topper arrived the next day came in one quite compact box. The mattress topper is rolled so that it can be transported easily and comes uncovered – it’s literally a layer of memory foam that sits on top of your existing mattress underneath the bed sheet.
Unfortunately we found that the mattress topper was a bit bigger than our king size mattress meaning that when the sheet is put on the mattress the topper folds around the edges – not a big issue as the part you lay on is flat but it does make changing the bed sheets a little more difficult.
When the mattress topper was first put on the bed it had a really strong odour that is apparently present with all new memory foam products and is a by-product of the manufacturing process. The smell, although non-toxic, is really strong and I’d recommend airing the mattress topper for a week or so before using it if possible.
Hubby and I have both found the mattress topper has made our bed a lot firmer than we are used to but we have slept well. Memory foam uses your body temperature to mould to your body shape whilst you sleep, to ensure the perfect position for your body and I have felt that I don’t toss and turn as much in my sleep as a result.
The Memory Foam Mattress Topper comes in a range of sizes starting at RRP £19.99
