This week has been utterly exhausting. We had a lovely weekend and then the weekdays have been full of sickness and tiredness – because of the sickness. It’s been a vicious cycle and I am longing for the weekend so the kids can sleep as long as they like and hopefully, finally, start feeling 100% again.
That said, there have been some things we have loved this week. Here are a few of them:
I read another whole book! Considering at the start of the year I wrote on my bucket list to read a book this year I think I have now read nearly a dozen! I am enjoying reading and find it a great way to wind down before bed – something that I haven’t really done since starting blogging properly. So what was this book I read? The Husband’s Secret. I saw it on someone’s Instagram and bought it recently with a voucher I had sitting around. If you’re looking for a book to read this one is a page turner. There were parts that were so hard to read, parts that reduced me to tears and parts that had my heart in my mouth. It was a really, really good read.
Well I had planned to watch Downton Abbey but my evenings have been far too busy this week so I have saved it as my Friday night viewing and will be watching it in bed tonight with a cup of tea. Instead we have caught up with George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces which reminded me of Jess’ recent adventure.
We’ve also caught up with the whole series of Eat Well For Less and I am always amazed how much some families spend on food each week, month or year. We spend about £60 a week on food and once a month stock up on dried stuff, toilet rolls, washing powder etc and spend £100. We could never spend £200 week in week out and so this show makes me gawp at the TV in disbelief!
I also spent a lot of time watching Little Man sleep in the car. We’ve been having play dates whilst A’s at school and now that her school pick up coincides with his nap time he typically sleeps in the car on the way home from our play dates and doesn’t often sleep at home.
Slipper boots! I love them and have put them on whenever I’ve been at home this week – it’s just been so cold and I refuse to put the heating on just yet. I can’t be the only one that remembers the heating going on at school after October half term and thinking that is a good time for it to be ok to heat the house!
I’ve also worn my PJs as much as possible, big snuggly proper PJs – that actually didn’t fit me very well when I got them last Christmas but with some weight loss they’re now super comfy – yay!
I baked some giant cookies yesterday that didn’t look the best but tasted pretty amazing! I think they might actually be my only foodie make of the week which is unusual but it’s what a week of sickness does to me!
We had a lovely time at Drusillas Park last weekend. The weather was perfect, the kids had a great time and it was so, so nice to have some time together as a family. It was the kind of day I want to bottle and keep forever.
