I remember Teletubbies from years ago, not quite my own childhood but definitely from morning TV in my teens. It was one of those shows that I was so glad to see return so that I could introduce it to my own children and Little Man has been pretty transfixed since he first saw it.
Over the last few months he’s accumulated a few Teletubbies toys and now loves to watch the show with them, pointing out his favourite, La-La, and repeating anything they say – from the theme tune, to hello and goodbye and everything else in between.
Little Man loves how bright and friendly the characters are. He sees them as friends rather than TV characters and I can see why he might be able to relate to the Teletubbies – they’re pretty much like brightly coloured toddlers really.
From a parent’s perspective, I love that Teletubbies teaches him things. The most recent episode we watched was all about making breakfast and how to make a smoothie. A simple thing but the day after he wanted to help pour cereal and milk into his breakfast bowl so he definitely learnt something from it.
Little Man is now very much a Teletubbies fan and it’s easily one of his favourite things to watch. He’s not often up at 7am to watch it but we always make sure we catch up on the BBC iPlayer whenever he fancies a dose of the Teletubbies!
We’ve made a little video of one of his Teletubbies sessions:
