It’s that time of the month again where I share everything we have liked and loved over the last few weeks. It’s so strange to think that we are already at the end of September – having last wrote at the end of the summer holidays, before the kids went back to school and before we got back into a nice routine. The last weeks have flown by!

So here’s everything we’ve loved this month:

LP’s Birthday

Just after my last Liked & Loved instalment, LP turned 15! I can’t quite believe that she’s fifteen already, I don’t feel old enough, although it has been such a joy to watch her grow and shine. And now, it’s like she’s the person that she’s always been destined to be. She is, without a doubt, one of my favourite people. I wrote this letter to her on her birthday.

Day in London

To celebrate LP’s birthday we had a day in London which is something we always really love to do as a family. But, this time we did things we hadn’t done before – starting with a visit to the Buckingham Palace State Rooms!

Wow, what an experience that was! Being able to set foot inside Buckingham Palace, to see the sheer size and opulence of the place. It was amazing and definitely something I think everyone should do once. Plus, I had a really nice ice cream in the gardens afterwards.

Our next stop was the Royal Mews, another place we hadn’t been to before where we got to see the royal carriages, horses and cars before going to the Cardinal Place Rooftop Gardens for a little sit down ahead of birthday dinner at Bill’s.

We finished the day with a trip to see Hamilton, starring Leslie Odom Jr which made LP’s year. We saw Hamilton, also starring Leslie Odom Jr when we were in New York last October so it was great to see it in London too.

A new school year

One of the big things of this month was LP and Little Man going back to school for a shiny new year. LP is now in Year 11 and only really has a few months left of school – with lots of mock exams squished in before she finishes, ready for her actual GCSEs. It’s a big year for her.

Little Man is in Year 9 and it’s quite an easy year for him. He just needs to pick his GCSEs for next year and aside from that just take each day as it comes. He’s happy to not have anything extra to think about this year!

Walk in wardrobe

This month we have, after years of planning, overhauled our walk in wardrobe. Ever since we got our loft converted, the walk in wardrobe hasn’t worked very well for us. So, we took it all out and instead switched to a big sliding door wardrobe and a big chest of drawers. This now works so much better and brings me joy every time I need to get clothes out or put clothes away as it’s so much easier than it was before.

New Lego storage

In the same big IKEA order we also overhauled our Lego storage in the lounge – getting rid of our old units and building new ones to maximise the space which also have glass doors to keep out the dust. It’s such an improvement.

New hair

LP and I both got our hair cut before the start of the new school term. Mine is much shorter and LP’s is the same as she had it cut last time but LP has also had lowlights added to her hair which really suit her.

Mole removal

I had a mole removed on my thigh this month. It’s a mole that had been with me since I was a toddler and something I have always been self conscious of. After a failed attempt at cryotherapy at a local pharmacy a year ago, I did more research and had it removed at a local beauty treatment centre using heat rather than cold. The mole was gone within fifteen minutes but it did take two weeks to form a scab and start to heal properly. Now, three weeks later, I am mole free and so happy I got it done! The best £45 I have ever spent.

Kittens

Over the last few weeks I have been going to visit my friend’s kittens twice a week whilst the family are at school and work to help keep the cats entertained – and it has brought me so much joy! The kittens are beautiful and any cat lover will know how nice it is to have a cat trust you enough to fall asleep on your lap. Cat cuddles have definitely been filling my mug this month!

And that is about it for September. I can’t quite believe we are a month into the school year already – but also already counting down to half term! I hope you’ve had a lovely September too.
